The tradition of launching Chinese lanterns into the sky for the New Year has recently become more and more popular. However, few people know that this New Year's attribute can not only be bought in a store, but also made independently from improvised means.
It is necessary
- - garbage bags;
- - scotch tape;
- - thin wire;
- - a candlestick from a small floating candle or chocolate foil;
- - cotton wool;
- - a flammable substance (in liquid or solid state).
Instructions
Step 1
The Chinese sky lantern consists of three parts: a dome, a metal frame, and a torch. Each part is manufactured separately and then assembled into a single structure. The best place to start is domes. In the traditional version, the dome of a sky lantern is made of thin rice paper, but since this material is not so easy to find, it can be replaced with ordinary garbage bags (you need to buy the cheapest garbage bags, as they are thin and light).
Step 2
To make the dome, we take two garbage bags with a volume of 30 liters, then cut off the bottom of one bag and connect it to the second bag using adhesive tape. You should get a cylinder, in the upper part of which is the bottom of the second package, and in the lower part - the neck of the first.
Step 3
The frame of a self-made flying flashlight is a ring, which coincides in diameter with the dome, and a crosspiece, on which the burner is attached. The ring and the cross are made of fine wire. Alternatively, you can do without a ring, limiting yourself to one cross - this measure will help to lighten the structure.
Step 4
The next step is to make a burner, which can be a candlestick from a small floating candle. If you wish, you can make it yourself from chocolate foil. The finished burner is fixed in the center of the frame crosspiece.
Step 5
Next, using adhesive tape, we connect the dome with a metal frame, after which a hand-made sky lantern will be ready for flight.
Step 6
As fuel, you can use a piece of cotton wool soaked in a liquid fuel, or a quarter of a dry fuel tablet.
