Tarantulas (Lycosa tarantula) are hairy wolf spiders, quite popular among exotic lovers. The spectacular appearance of venomous predators attracts many visitors to living corners and becomes a kind of thing for both novice artists and professionals. Try drawing a tarantula with a pencil - this is a great opportunity to develop creative skills and get to know the world of arachnids better.

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the necessary drawing tools. Sharpen the pencil with a sharp steel knife so you can get a comfortable tip with a spatula. This will allow you to apply strokes of various thicknesses to the paper, depending on the position of the working tool.
Step 2
Use fine or medium-grain pencil paper. You can take a sheet of Whatman paper. In addition, you will need a quality eraser - you will be drawing some guide lines of the drawing, which should then be erased.
Step 3
View the arthropod "live" or from a high-quality photograph. It is important to clearly understand its structure. The body of the tarantula is the abdomen (opisthosoma) and the cephalothorax (prosoma), which are interconnected by a kind of "waist" - a stalk. On the left and right sides of the cephalothorax there are 4 legs each, consisting of separate segments. Ahead - a pair of special limbs (pedipalps, or leg tentacles). Finally, two poisonous oral appendages (chelicerae), shaped like fangs. The tarantula is all covered with "hair" - numerous particles on the cuticle.
Step 4
Draw the body of the tarantula from two semicircles connected to each other (front view from above). Mark the contours of the cheliceral canines in the form of small egg-shaped figures pointing down; draw straight and broken lines for the front and walking limbs.
Step 5
Draw elongated segments along the construction lines for the legs of the arachnid. Carefully study the shapes of the spider's body parts and emphasize them with additional strokes: a more rounded and raised upper abdomen, convex segments on the cephalothorax. Carefully erase unnecessary and unsuccessful parts of the tarantula image.
Step 6
Start drawing the "fur" of the arthropod. Sketch short, thin strokes randomly on the chelicerae; make them longer and thicker on the body, legs and legs.
Step 7
Start coloring the picture. Examine the color of your "sitter". Usually in tarantulas, it differs in two or three basic colors on different segments of the legs and body: from black, gray and brown to (in some species) yellow and orange.
Step 8
You can draw a drawing in black and white using shadows and penumbra, laid with a slate pencil along the limbs and on the body of the spider. If you are coloring the picture with colored pencils, choose a soft tool and apply thin light strokes, layer by layer, until you get the desired tone. Hold the lead at an angle of about 45 degrees to the paper and rotate it around the axis if you want a bolder shading. When the depicted wolf spider becomes recognizable, you can consider your work finished.
