Bunny boys at the holidays are already a tradition. Not a single tree can do without them. To all potential long-eared fluffy-tailed guardians of festive customs, we offer a method for making a hare mask.

It is necessary

Sculptural plasticine, paper, PVA glue, acrylic paints, cardboard

Instructions

Step 1

Make a papier-mâché mask blank. Take sculptural plasticine, knead it in your hands and apply a thin layer (about 1-1.5 cm) on your face. Carefully sculpt the shape with your fingers, spreading the mask over half of the face, i.e. to the upper lip.

Step 2

Carefully remove the plasticine mold and place it on your work surface. Tear the paper (thin enough, no thicker than newspaper) into pieces of 2-3 centimeters. Dissolve PVA glue with water and lower the torn paper there. Wait for it to soften slightly and start applying it to the mask mold. Spread the mixture in an even layer and let it dry for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Apply glue to the first layer with a brush and lay out the pieces of paper. If they do not take shape well or come off, you can soak them, as described in the previous paragraph. Lay out 8-10 layers in this way. Pay special attention to the area of the cheekbones and nose: to get more accurate outlines, take smaller pieces of paper.

Step 4

Leave the mask to dry for 2 days at room temperature.

Step 5

Remove the dried workpiece from the mold. Trim the edges, cut out the slots for the eyes and for the nose.

Step 6

Cover the mask with light gray acrylic paint, make the lower half (at the level of the cheeks) white, paint the tip of the nose pink. If you made the slits for the eyes small (no larger than the pupil), draw your hare's eyes in the shape of a truncated oval.

Step 7

Cut out bunny ears from thick cardboard and attach to the mask with double-sided tape. Cover them with light gray acrylic and paint over the inside with an ash pink shade.

Step 8

Poke holes in the mask with an awl at the level of the ears (yours, not the rabbit's) and insert the elastic or braid.
