Children under two or three years old do not need a pillow, but upon reaching this age, and sometimes even earlier, parents wonder which pillow is best for their child. If you decide to sew it yourself, then use these tips.

Instructions
Step 1
The standard size of a baby pillow is 45x45 centimeters. Cut a rectangle out of teak or other thick cotton fabric, the width of which is 48 centimeters (45 cm is the width of the pillow and 3 cm allowances for seams), and its length is 93 centimeters (90 cm is the length of the pillow, multiplied by two, plus 3 cm allowances on the seams).
Step 2
Fold the rectangle in half with the right sides facing each other. Sew the two sides on the sewing machine, stepping back 1.5 centimeters from the edge of the part. At the edges of the seams, tack with a backstitch or simply tie the ends of the threads with a knot.
Step 3
Turn the part right out through the open hole. Fill the resulting bag with goose or chicken fluff. However, fluff often causes allergic reactions in a child, so it is not worth the risk if your toddler is allergic. In this case, the pillow can be filled with padding polyester or holofiber. These materials are hypoallergenic, keep their shape well and provide free air circulation. Another advantage of synthetic fillers is that they are easy to care for, which is an undeniable advantage. They can even be washed in a washing machine.
Step 4
Sew the remaining hole by hand with a blind stitch. Place the stitches back to back. Alternatively, sew it on a sewing machine by overcasting from the right side of the garment.
Step 5
Sew a pillowcase made of bright cotton fabric, for example, chintz or calico, onto the pillow. The technology of sewing a pillowcase is similar to that of sewing a pillow. Cut out a rectangle that is the same size as the pillow. Sew both sides on the sewing machine. Overlay or zigzag the seams on the wrong side of the pillowcase. Turn right out. Sew a zipper into the open hole.
Step 6
The pillowcase can be decorated with sewing, delicate lace, applique. Patchwork style pillows look very cute.
