Corals are amazing animals that live in sea waters. They are often confused with plants due to their original shape. They can grow in colonies, forming bizarre "forests" - reefs. When depicting corals on a piece of paper, you can not limit yourself to imagination and draw your own whimsical reefs.
It is necessary
- - paper;
- - a simple pencil;
- - eraser;
- - gouache;
- - brushes of different thickness.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the materials you need for painting. It is best to place the sheet of paper horizontally. Search the internet for a coral image before starting work. Pay attention to their shape and color variety. Try to express all this in your drawing. With a simple pencil, start sketching.
Step 2
First, draw a piece of land, a rock, a ledge of rock, on which the colony of animals will be located. Draw a horizontal, uneven line, or limit only the corner of the sheet diagonally. If you want, you can draw a part of the ship, for example the nose, since corals can grow on anything. Better that the "house" of these animals occupies one third or one fourth of the drawing, leave more space on top.
Step 3
Start placing the corals on the depicted skeleton. Start drawing them from the back. In fact, these animals have the shape of bizarrely curved, broken trees, small balls with convolutions. May resemble cacti or cauliflower. You can come up with your own fancy shape. First, indicate the direction of growth of the "branches" with lines, then draw the body of the animal itself with light strokes. Change the direction of the strokes if desired. Edit the lines carefully with the eraser. Draw corals step by step, gradually approaching the edge of the reef.
Step 4
For a successful composition, you can place one or two tall coral branches in the center of the colony or at the edge. Draw those animals that will be closer to you more precisely - a drawing on the body, pimples, hairs and so on. Then add several representatives of the marine world to the resulting composition. Draw ribbons of algae (preferably around the edges of the reef). Mark with ovals and then triangulate the tail and fins of the saltwater fish. In the distance, you can sketch out the silhouette of a shark, octopus or ship.
Step 5
Get started in color. Gouache works best for this. Start with the background. Do not brush undiluted, pure color. Mix blue with green and red right in the image. Then mark corals, algae, fish, etc. with the main color spots. The coral reef can be full of all the colors of the rainbow or be kept in a certain color scheme. Once dry, start painting with color. The closer the object is to the viewer, the more accurately its small details should be drawn. Work on drawing with a thin brush.
Step 6
After the drawing has dried, work on the first plan, draw the hairs, convolutions, chippings on the body of the coral, mixing their base color with blue, and then apply white or yellow highlights. If you wish, you can stroke with a thin black felt-tip pen or helium pen.
