You can hardly find a child who does not like tobogganing. Among the winter entertainment for children, sledding from the mountain can be confidently called the most fun pastime and it is not surprising that children who do not have their own sleds look with envy at their peers who have them. You can make a winter sled for your child with your own hands - they will be strong, reliable and durable.

Instructions

Step 1

To begin with, make forms from chipboard on which you will make frames and sled runners. Grind the molds. Cut out the strips from the ash wood 20 mm thick, from which you will make the frames.

Step 2

Coat the strips with epoxy resin and place them in the bending molds, tighten with clamps tightened evenly and dry for 12 hours. Strip the edges of the workpiece, and then make a second runner.

Step 3

Shape the bottom ribs of the runners to the desired shape using a round cutter, and then pull off the first frame and reposition it on the mold. Separately saw out the blank for the sled cross member and drill 12 mm holes along the lateral axis of the cross member.

Step 4

Mark the center of each cross member with a pencil and align the axes of all parts. Thus, collect all the frames, sand the seams with sandpaper, and then proceed to assembling the sled seat. From the ash board, cut three small boards measuring 20x48x765 mm.

Step 5

Saw boards up to 8mm thick. Lay the boards firmly against each other on a work surface, then use a planer or sander to finish them up to 6mm thick and then work the seat boards with solid spacers. Secure all boards and spacers with strong tape. Sand the edges of the seat.

Step 6

Place the seat on the frame assemblies so that it is perpendicular to each assembly, and then drill pilot holes in each plank. Secure the boards and remove the tape securing them to the spacers. The last stage in the assembly of the sled is the fastening of the runners.

Step 7

When the seat is installed on the frames, install the runners on the sled with marked frame axes and drilled pilot holes. Fill the frame and rail joints with epoxy and screw them down.

Step 8

Cut out the sides of the sled separately and cut them with a round cutter to form the top ribs. Also saw out the front bumper of the sled and drill holes for the towing ropes.

Step 9

Connect the bumper to the side panel, then fit the handrails into the holes drilled in the front bumper. To strengthen the adhesive joints, squeeze the parts of the sled with clamps. Cover the finished sled with polyurethane varnish.
