Fishing for pike with a spoon involves drilling a large number of holes. This method is quite difficult to implement in winter due to the increase in the thickness of the ice cover. For this reason, many amateur anglers switch to girder fishing in winter. Zherlitsa is a special tackle for catching predatory fish. So, let's start hunting for pike.
It is necessary
Cord (fishing line), reel, hook, pole, live bait
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your tackle for girder fishing. The coastal zherlitsa consists of a cord or fishing line. Wind the string crosswise around a small wooden flyer. Tie the flyer to a pole stuck obliquely towards the water. Instead of a flyer, you can use a standard reel. Tie a hook on a leash to a cord or fishing line and attach a live bait to it.
Step 2
Having made the decision to catch pike in the winter on the girder, do it quite quickly, since the day is short in winter. To fish with a girder, you need, at a minimum, to catch live bait, make holes in the ice and set the tackle correctly. It is recommended to install no more than five vents at a time.
Step 3
When choosing crochet hooks, do not try to use the largest ones. A large hook will show itself well only during "zhora", when the pike grabs and swallows almost everything. In winter, the predator takes live bait rather slowly and can often suspect something was wrong, leaving you without prey.
Step 4
To successfully catch pike on the girder, you need to know what kind of fish the pike feeds on in a given reservoir, that is, what fish to use as bait. It is known that pike can swallow prey up to half the length of its body, but usually it feeds on fish no more than 10 cm long, and generally prefers smaller food before spawning. Therefore, choose the optimal size of live bait so that it is no more than 8 cm.
Step 5
The best live bait for a girder is from the same reservoir in which you fish for pike. With this method of fishing, stock up on a small cage for live baits, because sometimes they will have to be left under the ice overnight, especially if you decide to store live bait for future use.
Step 6
When installing the tackle, keep in mind that the live bait on the hook should be about 50 cm from the bottom. Having put the zherlitsa, fill the hole with snow, making a slide out of it. This will darken the hole and prevent water from freezing quickly in it.
