Spring pike fishing is considered to be the most catchy for the open water season. At the very beginning of spring, when most of the water is still covered with ice, the pike begins to actively feed and is not capricious at all - it rushes to any bait: twisters, wobblers, live fish and even foam rubber. It is in the spring that especially large trophies come across, which is very problematic to catch in the summer.

Considering that the air temperature is still quite low, and the fish activity is high, put aside the winter gear, especially the donk, there will be little use from them. During this period, the best and most productive way will be spinning with artificial lures.

"Spring zhor", as experienced fishermen call this time, is rather short, usually by mid-April the pike already leaves for spawning. Of course, a lot depends on local conditions and the temperature of the water in a particular body of water. During this period, the taste preferences of the pike are determined by the fact that it has already begun to bear eggs. At this time, she is not attracted to large fish, so use small wobblers, spinners, twisters or vibro-tails 3-5 cm long.
Step 3
To find fish "trails" you will have to fish several areas. Pike can often be found in quiet bays and creeks, near flooded snags. The pike prefers places with vegetation or driftwood that can be used as a hiding place. In spring, however, it can still be found more often in shallow, curled up, still partially ice-covered creeks, and not in large bays with open water.
Step 4
Use hard long rods with a soft tip for better feel and lure control. The reel is better with a spinning reel with a spare spool. Its distinctive features should be a powerful clutch, easy line descent, high-quality silent winding. In spring, the strength of the coil is not so important. The thickness of the line should be 0.3-0.4 mm, use high-quality monofilament. Attach the bait to the line with a tungsten leash, the pike loves to attack in the head and during such an attack can easily bite into an ordinary line.
Step 5
Having thrown the bait, make a uniform posting at a fast pace, in shallow water there are especially great chances of catching with a hook, but if there is a pike in this place, it will bite on a fast-moving bait. And keep in mind that if you caught one pike, you will immediately find another.
