The fish is already hatching eggs, so this is reflected in the predator's eating habits. During this period, the pike does not rush to large fish, use small baits for catching it: wobblers, vibrotails, twisters and spinners (3-4 centimeters in length). At the beginning of April, the fish leaves for spawning, after which the biting resumes again (until mid-May).
Standing places of pre-spawning pike
Each river has special, well-worn pike spawning routes. Knowledge of these routes greatly simplifies the task for anglers. If the area is not familiar, then you will have to fish all the promising areas yourself. The pre-spawning pike stands near large snags, in small and quiet backwaters, bays. It can be found near underwater bushes or at the edge of algae, near thickets of old reeds and other places that can be used as a hiding place. The uglier and quieter the place, the higher the probability of meeting a predator here.
Suitable tackle
For pike fishing in spring, you need a hard rod of 2.5-4 meters with a soft tip, thanks to which the bait is better controlled and the tackle is felt. The rod must be equipped with a spinning reel with a spare spool. Powerful drag and easy line descent are preferred, as well as quiet and high-quality winding. A good monofilament with a diameter of 0.3-0.4 millimeters should be wound on the coil. In the spring, it is better to give up braiding. You can use any lures, but small ones, they should be attached to the fishing line using a tungsten leash, since the pike often attacks the wobbler in the head and bites the line with its sharp teeth. In the spring, spinners with rattles, spinners and live bait work perfectly.

Having found a suitable and promising area, cast the bait and make an even drive at a fast pace. You often have to fish in shallow water, so the chances of getting caught are pretty high. If a pike is found in this area, then it will hasten to grab a fast-moving bait. A pike cut in the spring does not resist well. Remember that pike do not walk alone, so you can catch several specimens in one place. Pike bites also have their own characteristics.
