When knitting large models of clothing, consisting of individual cut parts, it is recommended to start working from the back of the product. You may need to adjust the depth of the cut, decorative details or the main pattern, and if there is a lack of yarn, use a thread of a different color. All this is easy to do from the front when the back is ready. Before starting work, you need to find out the density of your knitting and compare it with the pattern of the product of the required size.

It is necessary

  • - centimeter;
  • - pattern;
  • - 3 knitting needles (two working and one auxiliary);
  • - iron;
  • - cotton linen;
  • - pins;
  • - 2 skeins of yarn.

Instructions

Step 1

Tie a reference pattern for the future backrest. Often this piece of clothing is performed with an elastic band (front-purl or 2 front-purl 2), then they move to the front surface. You can also knit the back with any pattern. Each pattern participating in the creation of the product must be made in the form of a square canvas measuring 10x10 cm.

Step 2

Place the knitting patterns face down on a soft cotton cloth, pin from the corners and steam off. Now the canvas is slightly stretched in width - it is according to this pattern that in the future it will be possible to accurately calculate the required number of loops and rows.

Step 3

Start knitting the back with an elastic band and make an elastic fabric about 8 cm high. Now you will need to expand the work a little by adding loops evenly. Additional loops are knitted from transverse threads (broaches) between adjacent loops.

Step 4

To add one loop, insert the knitting needle under the broach from back to front, then twist the thread and knit the resulting thread bow with the front one. To add the required number of loops to the canvas evenly, divide the work into equal intervals.

Step 5

Continue to knit the back of the garment in straight and back rows with your chosen pattern. At the end of the row, make edging loops. Please note: if convex patterns and ornaments are knitted on the back, then next to the future connecting seams there should be at least 2-3 front or back loops. Otherwise, the seams will be too rough.

Step 6

You can knit a simple back of the product in the form of a rectangle, then close the loops at the desired height. To give the garment a more graceful shape, it is necessary to form the armholes of the sleeves. Calculate the height of the garment from the bottom of the elastic to the beginning of the armholes individually.

Step 7

For armholes, loops need to be reduced on every second row - so the canvas will smoothly round off on each side. For example, you need to symmetrically (left and right) cut the knitting into 6 loops. Knit together a pair of adjacent loops: - in the first step, 4 loops are cut on each side; - 6 times 2 loops are closed; - 7 times - 1 loop each.

Step 8

Usually the back is knitted either without a neckline at all, or with a shallow cut line (about 2 cm deep). The classic rounding is created by decreasing the loops around the edges of the neck. To do this, first adjust the neckline according to the pattern and knitting density, then mark a certain number of center loops (cutout width).

Step 9

Do not knit the marked stitches in the current row, but remove them on the auxiliary knitting needle. You will now have to work in parallel with two separate skeins of yarn.

Step 10

Round the neck of the backrest in every second row. First, symmetrically close 6 loops from each edge, then 2, and in the last step, only 1 loop.

Step 11

Simultaneously with the formation of the neck, bevels of the shoulders are usually made. Decrease a certain number of loops on both sides, in every second front row. To find out the required bevel angle (and the number of loops to be reduced), it is recommended that you first make a sample and compare it with the pattern. If the back has reached the required length, close the last loops of each shoulder.
