The transfer of images to plastic is one of the most popular technologies in working with polymer clay. At the same time, you can get amazing things - earrings with the image of your favorite movie characters, pendants with poppy fields, bracelets with the image of pets. All these amazing things are pretty easy to do.
It is necessary
- - a picture printed on a laser printer;
- - plastic;
- - "rolling pin";
- - knife;
- - oven.
Instructions
Step 1
Each master has his own technique for translating pictures into plastic. One of the simplest is dry translation. In addition, there are technologies for translating images using formic alcohol; translation of drawings printed on photographic paper; decoupage.
Step 2
For work, you need a picture or photograph printed on a laser printer on plain paper. It is desirable that the drawing is fresh. The newly printed drawing will be the easiest to translate.
Step 3
First, prepare the color of the plastic you need, on which you will subsequently apply the drawing. Perhaps you want a pale red or striped blue and yellow background. Mix the colors you need and prepare the blank - give it the shape of the finished product. At this stage, you do not need to remove all the irregularities and roughness. You can do this after you have translated the picture.
Step 4
Place the blank on top of the picture and smooth it down well so that there are no bubbles. It is best to use an object for this that can be used as a rolling pin - a pencil, a bottle-pen from perfume.
Step 5
Cut off excess plastic, give the product the correct shape.
Step 6
Go over the workpiece again with your rolling pin and set it aside. Ideally, if the future earrings or pendant lie like this for several hours, the picture will be imprinted on the surface of the object. After all, the essence of transferring a picture to plastic is for the plasticizer to react with the powder of a laser printer, absorbing it into itself. Therefore, the longer the picture lays on the plastic, the clearer it will be translated.
Step 7
After the picture has lain on the plastic for a long time, "bake" the product in the oven according to the instructions (usually ten to fifteen at a temperature of 110 degrees), without removing the pictures. After the workpiece has cooled down, the paper can be removed - the drawing will remain on the plastic!
Step 8
After that, the workpiece can be sanded with sandpaper and varnished. Your unique piece is ready.
