There are about 10,000 bird species in nature. You can meet them anywhere. Birds are very beautiful and diverse creatures, besides, each of them has its own character. But most birds have common, easily recognizable traits. After observing them, you can depict them on paper.

Instructions
Step 1
Observe the bird you want to draw. Pay attention to the position the bird takes when standing still. Remember the bird's beak, tail and plumage color. Mark the oval of the head, the line of inclination of the torso. Having determined the proportions of the head, body and tail, sketch out the outline of the bird.
Step 2
Draw the beak, which more than other parts expresses the character of the bird. Set the beak color you want. Next, determine where the wing will land. Draw it and select it with a pencil. Give definition to the elements that run almost parallel to the lines of the wing - this is the chest and back of the bird.
Step 3
Then finally outline the head and clearly draw the line of the neck. Make a smooth transition: head - neck - back. And then head - neck - chest. To make the body of the bird look three-dimensional, draw the shoulder and the lower part of the wing in the foreground. After complete coincidence of the drawn part with the silhouette, clearly outline the shoulder and set the direction of the feathers.
Step 4
Perform a reflex on the abdomen: leave the abdomen light, slightly darkening its periphery. This is a technique in which a ghost of color is displayed to convey the volume of the image. Paint shadows behind and under the head with light gray.
Step 5
Finally, work out the beak and head in more detail. Paint the upper part of the beak at its base and the back of the head darker. Darker the neck and part of the chest to the shoulder line. Use a light gray color to paint shadows behind the bird and under the head.
Step 6
Draw the legs clearly and paint them with dark paint at the base. Draw a twig under the legs. Shade the wing and back. Select the lines of the tail, smoothly performing the transition to them from the back. Paint the eye more black, leaving highlights. Use an eraser to lighten the area above the beak at eye level.
Step 7
Draw feathers around the head and eyes. Lighten the head from above with an eraser to give it volume. Add a background to your drawing. For more emphasis, place the darkest part of the background near the lightest part of the head and beak. Loosen the background in tone behind the neck and under the beak. Your bird is ready.
