Step 1
Take a close look at the person on whom the cartoon is drawn. Pay attention to the general constitution of his body, the proportions of his face, features of his appearance, facial expressions. Highlight the most obvious specific features, such as prominent cheekbones, malocclusion, small eyes, protruding ears, etc.
Step 2
Imagine in your mind what detail of a person's appearance is best accentuated in a drawing and what can be made grotesque in his appearance.
Step 3
Make a skeleton sketch of the person's face. At the same time, try to lengthen, reduce or expand those details of the appearance that you want to highlight.
Step 4
In the final version of the cartoon, use chiaroscuro to enhance the selected accents in the person's appearance and "revive" his image. Try to make your face look good-natured.
