You can make a huge number of interesting handicrafts from clay: vases, toys, whistles, etc. Many people like clay whistles. With enough experience, you can create a real work of art, but a beginner can also make a whistle out of clay. The whistle can be made in the form of a horse, bird, fish, pig, or any other shape. Whichever shape you choose for your toy, there are general rules that will help you make a ringing and beautiful whistle. For example, to make a bird whistle, you need to adhere to the following algorithm.
It is necessary
Clay, stacks, water, two containers (for water and for bonding mortar), kiln for firing
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to prepare the clay. Clay must be plastic so that later on our toy does not crack. You can determine the plasticity of clay by rolling a small sausage and bending it, if it cracks, then you need to add a little water to the clay.
Step 2
For our toy to whistle, it must be empty inside. To do this, take a small piece of clay and roll up a ball. Then, pressing it down with our fingers, we will make a concave cake out of it. We blind the second part of the same and connect them together. It turned out to be a ball. This will be the body of our bird. Do not make the cakes too thin, as the cavity inside will turn out to be large and the sound will be muffled.
Step 3
Lubricate the junction of the parts and the ball itself with a fastening solution (slip). To prepare it, take a ceramic mixture and dilute it with water until it looks like sour cream. The lubricated ball can be rolled in the palms of your hands to create the perfect round shape. The bonding mixture will not allow it to deform at the same time. So that later our whistle was stable, one side of the ball can be slightly flattened.
Step 4
The next step is to make the head of our bird. We tear off a piece of clay of the size that the head should be. We make a ball out of it. At the junction of the head with the body, we apply liquid clay, fasten the parts together, and cover the seams with slip.
Step 5
Similarly, we attach other details to the body: tail, wings, legs, beak, eyes. You can make these parts any shape you want. But give the tail an elongated shape, then you will need to make two holes in it using a stack. Also, using stacks, you can apply various patterns to the body, tail, wings of the bird.
Step 6
We make the first hole along the tail to the cavity in the body, the second from the bottom at an angle to the first. If everything is done correctly, you can hear the whistle even when the clay is wet.
Step 7
The toy is almost ready. Now you need to leave it for a few days so that the clay dries, then burn it in a special oven. Then you can paint the whistle with paints.
