Biography and personal life

Viktor Tsoi was born in 1962 in Leningrad. On his father's side, he had Korean roots. Already in high school, the boy was seriously interested in music. He learned to play the guitar and formed his first group called "Chamber No. 6". He was also fond of drawing, and after the ninth grade he moved to study at the Leningrad Art School named after I. Serov. However, the young man did not stay within the walls of the institution for long: he devoted most of his time to music and was soon expelled for academic failure.

Subsequently, Victor worked as a woodcarver, but did not stop his musical creativity for a day. In 1981, together with Oleg Valinsky and Alexei Rybin, he formed the rock group Garin and Hyperboloids, which they later decided to rename to Kino. The team collaborated with the Leningrad Rock Club and its famous representative Boris Grebenshchikov. With his assistance, "Kino" releases its first album called "45".

As part of his group, Tsoi often performed at Leningrad apartment buildings - informal concerts held right in residential apartments. His work was received very warmly. Soon the second album "Chief of Kamchatka" was released, and then the third - "Night", which is considered one of the best in the entire career of the group. The next disc, "Blood Group", became no less popular. In fact, every song of the collective - "Blood Group", "I Want Change!", "Pack of Cigarettes" and others instantly became "popular": they touched upon the most exciting topics of Soviet citizens and especially young people, but at the same time were easy to perform.

Viktor Tsoi became the idol of millions of people not only in the Soviet Union, but also far abroad. The band began gathering full stadiums and concert halls with fans fascinated by its energy. At the end of the 80s, Victor appeared before the public and in the form of an actor, playing the main roles in the films "Needle" and "Assa". For this, he was even awarded the title of the best actor in the country according to numerous polls. In his personal life, the artist found happiness with a girl named Marianne, who was a little older than him. They met at one of the apartment buildings and never parted. They had a son, Alexander, who later also became a rock musician.

Death of the artist

Viktor Tsoi suddenly passed away on August 15, 1990. On that day, he was driving his Moskvich car, moving along the Latvian road Sloka - Talsi near Tukums. He was returning from a short rest, which he spent in the Baltic States. On the 35th kilometer of the track, the car made a head-on collision with an Ikarus bus. The latter was practically not damaged, which cannot be said about Tsoi's car. He himself died on the spot.

According to the official version, the collision occurred due to the carelessness of Victor, who could fall asleep while driving. According to friends and colleagues, recently the singer was running out of strength due to constant concerts and recordings of new songs, which could lead to an annoying "shutdown" of the body. There is also a version that Choi could simply try to change the cassette in the radio or distract himself from the road in a different way. At that moment, he was passing a dangerous turn, and therefore did not have time to react to the bus that jumped out from behind him.

Three days later, the funeral of the artist took place in St. Petersburg, whose death was a real shock for the whole country. A wave of suicides even swept through it: some fans passed away, unable to cope with the shock of the death of an idol. The inscription "Tsoi is alive" became very common, which music lovers left wherever possible. The musician really remained to live in the hearts of millions of people who continue to listen to his songs. At such moments it seems that Viktor Tsoi did not go anywhere and continues to express his thoughts through creativity.
