A dressing gown is an integral part of any woman's home wardrobe. It is simply necessary both in the morning after sleep and in the evening after a bath or shower. To sew a comfortable soft robe, the first step is to decide on the style and calculate the fabric consumption. To do this, you need to measure the length of the robe and add the length of the sleeve to it. On average, with a width of 1.5 m, 2.2 m of fabric is enough. In addition, you will need a pattern, tailor's chalk, scissors, a needle, thread and a sewing machine. For a light summer robe, thin natural fabrics are suitable: chintz or silk; for the cold season, it is better to use flannel or terry cloth.

To quickly switch from work to rest, you can simply change into a soft, cozy robe after a hard day at work.

Before starting work, the fabric must be prepared. Rinse in warm water, dry and iron. This is done in order not to spoil the finished product if the fabric fades or shrinks. While the material is drying, there is time for making a pattern drawing. Measure the circumference of the hips, chest and waist, the length of the robe and sleeves with a measuring tape, write down the measurements and make a drawing based on them. You can use ready-made patterns from the fashion magazine.

The fabric ready for cutting, spread out on a flat surface, roll up in 2 layers, with the front side inward and place the cut details on it in the direction of the shared thread. Circle them with tailor's chalk, add 1.5-2 cm seam allowances from each edge. Cut out all the details. Fold the shelf with the backrest right side to each other and sweep along the side and shoulder seams. Baste sleeves. Then make a fitting, during which all the identified shortcomings are eliminated. Then sew all the seams on a typewriter and iron them out. Seam the edges with a zigzag or overlock seam. Then sew on the hem and collar, sew the loops. At the end of the work, hem the bottom of the robe, sleeves and sew on the buttons.

A light summer robe can be sewn with virtually no patterns and seams. Any fabric will work, but a soft knit or silk is best. The cut is folded in half inside the wrong side. A narrow fabric should be laid across, wide along the lobar thread.

For a dressing gown without seams, a pattern is not needed, you can just make all the markings with chalk on the fabric.

From a wide fabric, you can sew a robe only with shoulder seams. From a narrow one, you will have to make a seam in the middle of the back. To do this, step back from the edge 1.5 cm and sew a seam.

Next, from the back, you need to measure the depth of the neck 2 cm, and the width 9 cm from left to right and connect the points on the fabric. The width of the robe is also measured from left to right - divide the hip circumference in half and add 20 cm. On the shelf, the width of the neckline - 9 cm is measured from right to left, and the depth is formed at your discretion. In order to form an armhole, measure the width of the armhole 24 cm from the side of the fold from top to bottom and cut the fabric. Cut the neck along the marked lines.

Align the shelf and backrest with the front sides along the lines of the shoulders, stitch the shoulder seams. Seams and edges of the product must be processed with a zigzag or overlock. Can be decorated with a bias inlay or ruffles. Pockets can be sewn on if desired. On the right side at the waistline, make a small cut for the belt. This comfortable, versatile wraparound robe can turn into a negligee when tied in the front. By this principle, you can sew a bathrobe by sewing sleeves and a hood to it.
