Instructions
Step 1
Take measurements from the baby's head. For knitting, give preference to soft yarns, preferably without long fibers, otherwise they will irritate the face. In addition, to make the hat look beautiful and with perfect knitting, choose threads with an even structure. The hat will consist of a double hem and a pom-pom body. Be sure to tie the sample before proceeding.
Step 2
Cast on the needles an even number of stitches, for example 80 stitches. Knit 1 row with front loops, perform the second with purl. With each subsequent row, work according to the drawing. Do not forget to remove the edge loop at the beginning of each row, which forms the even edges of the canvas. Make 10 rows in total. Now knit according to the "cloves" pattern: * 1 yarn over, 2 loops together, knit *. Knit back according to the pattern, that is, with purl loops. It is in this area that teeth will subsequently be located, which are well formed when bent.
Step 3
Continue to knit 10 more rows with the front stitch, and then repeat the above "teeth" pattern again. Knit seamy side with purl loops. All this gives a tight elastic band, as well as a double fold over the head circumference. Moreover, both on the top and on the bottom, it will be decorated with a beautiful frame in the form of teeth.
Step 4
Start knitting the main fabric of the hat. To do this, after the last (purl) row, work according to the scheme: * 1 front loop, 1 purl *. After the end of this row, continue to knit according to the same pattern, only perform each front loop not in the loop itself (as is traditionally done), but simultaneously into it and into the loop of the previous row. Knit purl unchanged. Follow this principle only the front loops in all rows (both front and back) until the end of the work. This will give very even pigtail grooves.
Step 5
Close the loops at the level of the crown of your head. Sew the hat from the wrong side along the main seam - from the neck to the top of the head. Please note that the seam at the folds, on the other hand, is sewn from the front side. Finish the top edges of the cap. To do this, you can make only 4 tucks on the cap, and then fix them with a decorative seam. Sew a pompom on each resulting top corner of the hat (possibly on a cord). Much more pintucks can be made, after which they can also be tightly decorated with seams, and one or more pompons can be inserted into the middle.
