Among the most diverse models of men's clothing, the shirt has been and remains a versatile and comfortable piece of clothing that should always be in the wardrobe of any man. A shirt in combination with a business suit or jeans can complement both the formal style and the everyday look of a man, and any craftswoman can sew it at home. For a casual men's shirt, you can use a neutral striped fabric.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are using striped fabric, cut out the details of the garment so that the stripes line up with the cross-section of the cut.
Step 2
Make patterns for yokes, collars and cuffs on paper, and then attach them to the fabric parallel to the stripes. With a 1cm seam allowance, circle the patterns with tailor's chalk and cut out the fabric.
Step 3
To strengthen the collar, glue it with glue coarse calico or doublerin, and depending on the required stiffness of the collar, glue the inner lining of the appropriate thickness - in one or two layers.
Step 4
Then cut out the shirt shelves and process the planks, making two cuffs and leaving no seam allowances. After processing, the width of the placket should be 2-4 cm. Press the placket to the wrong side of the right shelf and stitch 1 mm from the fold line.
Step 5
On one side of the shelf, the strap should be an ordinary double, and on the other side, the strap should be "male" for installing and processing the loops. Sew the side part of the shelf to its side edge, process the allowance and iron towards the center.
Step 6
Stitch a shelf along the seam with which the side piece was sewn. Having processed the shelves, proceed to the processing of the yoke, which can be either single or double. If you will be sewing a single yoke, press the seam allowances of the shelves and backrest on it. In the case of a double yoke, put the shelves on the cut out part of the yoke and roll the shelves and back into a roll, rolling them onto the yoke.
Step 7
Place the second yoke, wrong side up, over the rolled parts and sew the yoke details together with the twisted shelves and back. Pull the details through the neck of the yoke, then iron the seams and stitch the yokes along the seams with which the shelves and back are sewn.
Step 8
Pin the details of the sleeves one by one to the armholes and sew in, and then press the seam allowance onto the armhole. Stitch the armhole. Fold the sleeve cuts, the side cuts of the front and backrest together and sew, and process and iron the allowances.
Step 9
To sew on a separately cut and sewn hard or soft collar, cut out the narrow collar, then sew the collar to the collar and iron the collar allowances. Fold up the edge of the stand and baste it, closing the stitch of the sewn collar with this fold. Stitch the stand and collar along the seam line 1 mm from the edge.
Step 10
When working on the hem of the shirt, fold the sides of the shelves together and cut off the excess if the length of the shelves is not the same. Achieve even cuts and fold the bottom of the shirt 5-7 mm twice, then sew.
Step 11
Finish sewing the shirt by sewing the sleeve placket and sewing on the cuffs. Make a 14 cm slit on the back of the sleeve, attach a 7 cm wide placket from the inside and stitch it on. Cut the cut into a triangle and press the allowance onto the plank. Fold over the edge 5 mm twice and sew. Press the placket in half and sew the fold next to the stitching seam.
Step 12
Roll the top edge of the plank into a triangle and stitch along the contour. Reinforce the details of the cuff, like the details of the collar, with an adhesive pad, and then sew together, cutting the seam allowances at the corners. Mark pleats on the bottom of the sleeve and stitch on the cuffs.
Step 13
Mark the locations of the buttonholes on the shirt, cut and process them, sew on the buttons. The shirt is ready.
