Ficuses, plants of the mulberry family, are very often grown at home. There are many different ficuses - this genus includes up to a thousand species, among which there are both decorative evergreen forms and deciduous trees and even woody lianas. Under natural conditions, ficuses grow in the subtropical climate of Africa, Asia, America and Australia, and indoor ficuses thrive in an ordinary city apartment.
Rubbery ficus
Rubbery ficus is one of the most popular indoor plants that have earned such fame due to the large, beautiful and dense leaves that grow up to half a meter in length. Dark green, shiny oval leaves with pointed tips look very impressive both at home and in the office. The rubbery ficus not only looks good, it is also very useful for the microclimate of the room, this plant perfectly heals the air, enriches it with oxygen and cleans it of harmful impurities.
This type of ficus does not require difficult conditions of detention. It should be kept in a shaded area, preferably away from direct sunlight. In summer, it can withstand temperatures up to 30 ° C, in winter it develops well at a temperature of at least 17 ° C.
It is enough to water this plant once or twice a week with settled water, it is not necessary to spray, sometimes you can wipe the leaves from dust.
Ficus Benjamin
Ficus Benjamin is another common houseplant often seen in shopping and entertainment centers, offices and other public places as a decorative element. This plant attracts attention - Benjamin's ficus grows up to several meters in height, representing either a spreading bush or a tree with a beautiful and dense crown.
The leaves of this ficus are small, up to eight centimeters long, they can be either uniform in color or variegated.
Ficus Benjamin is a little more demanding in terms of content than rubbery. This plant loves warm and light places, does not react well to waterlogging and watering with cold water. But the main thing is that this large ficus does not like very much when it is rearranged from place to place, it begins to shed its leaves until it gets used to the new environment.
Bengal ficus
In ancient oriental manuscripts, Bengali ficus was called the World Tree, this plant was considered a symbol of immortality, and today it is actively grown in many homes. Bengal ficus has powerful branches, aerial roots and rather large dark green leaves.
These flowers love to grow in spacious rooms, with enough space they can grow up to three meters in height. Otherwise, there are no special conditions of detention - the ficus needs to be watered a couple of times a week and kept in a place with a sufficient amount of natural light, but not in direct sunlight.
Dwarf ficus
Dwarf ficus is one of the most beautiful of the genus ficus, it is a small, small-leaved plant with flexible stems that resemble a wire. Dwarf ficus leaves are thin, heart-shaped, light, matte. These plants thrive on east or west facing windows, but they must be protected from the midday sun.
