It is not necessary to have the skills of a potter to make a decorative flower pot. It is quite enough to decorate a ready-made rigid form with the help of a colored cord, stones or dry plants. You can use a metal or plastic container of a suitable size as a base for the planter.

Step 1
One of the simplest ways to make a decorative pots is to finish the base with a decorative cord. To do this, fix the beginning of a half-centimeter diameter cord at the bottom of the base container with transparent hot melt glue. At the same time, bend the very end of the cord two or three centimeters long so that, wrapping the base in a circle, you can cover this segment with subsequent turns.
Step 2
When applying the cord to the hot melt glue, wrap the entire base up to the top and secure the upper end of the cord by slipping it under the lower turns. For finishing such a planter, you can use a cord of several colors. Planters decorated with a jute cord look good. A large plastic container can be trimmed with a monochromatic twisted furniture cord.
Step 3
With epoxy glue and small stones, you can decorate planters for succulents. Use any rigid container of a suitable size as a base. For finishing, pebbles picked up on the beach or ordinary rubble are suitable. Stones should be no more than two to three centimeters in length and two in width. Rinse and dry before starting work.
Step 4
Lay the planter base on its side. If the container you are using as a base is cylindrical, secure it so that it does not roll on the table. Mix epoxy with hardener and apply glue to the top of the base. Place stones on the glue, trying to alternate large and small so as to cover the surface of the container to be trimmed.
Step 5
After filling the top of the base with the trim, leave it in a fixed position for a day. After the glue has completely hardened, turn the future planter with the other side up and glue the stones to another area of the surface. Thus, finish the entire surface of the planter.
Step 6
If you have at your disposal a base for a cylindrical planter with equal diameters of the base and top, trim it with bunches of dry plants. For this, cereals with long, straight stems are suitable. If you are harvesting trim material in the winter, simply cut off any straight dry plants.
Step 7
Dry the collected plants, remove leaves and seeds from the stems. Tie the stems into tight bundles no more than a centimeter in diameter. To do this, wrap the top and bottom of each bundle with strong thread. The length of the bundle should be half a centimeter longer than the height of the base container.
Step 8
Glue the stems onto the base with epoxy glue so as to cover the entire surface. To prevent the finish from shifting while the glue hardens, wrap the pot with threads over the finish. Once the glue is dry, these threads can be removed.
