A stylish looking leather bracelet decorated with carvings or beads can be made with scraps of leather or a long leather cord. Decorations made in the "boiled" technique of thick leather look especially impressive.

It is necessary

  • - leather;
  • - plastic base;
  • - PVA glue;
  • - beads;
  • - copy paper;
  • - punch;
  • - a sharp knife with a thin blade;
  • - sandpaper;
  • - colorless shoe polish.

Instructions

Step 1

To make a simple bracelet, a base and a long strip of thin leather are enough. As a base, you can use a ready-made plastic ring. If such a thing is not found on the farm, cut a strip from a sturdy plastic can. The base should be of such a diameter that you can easily put it on your hand.

Step 2

Lubricate the base for the bracelet with PVA glue and wrap it with a strip of soft leather, laying the turns so that each subsequent one overlaps the previous one by half the width of the strip. If you are winding the cord on a flat base wider than 0.5 cm, glue a strip of fabric folded several times to the outside of it. This will help make the bracelet more voluminous. If you are using a twisted leather cord for winding, place the turns as close to each other as possible.

Step 3

After covering the entire base, grease the end of the leather tape or cord with glue and slide it with the tip of scissors or knitting needles under the first turns. Wait until the glue is completely dry.

Step 4

Stitch the bracelet with bright beads using a fine needle and nylon thread. If the leather that you wrapped the bracelet with is too dense and does not pierce well with the needle, stick in and pull out the needle, picking it up with pliers.

Step 5

To make a more complex bracelet, leather with a thickness of three to five millimeters is required. Cut a blank out of it in the shape of the future bracelet. When processing in boiling water, the workpiece will noticeably decrease in size, so make the bracelet three to four centimeters longer than necessary.

Step 6

Apply a pattern to the workpiece that will decorate the bracelet. You can draw the lines of the pattern with a thin marker directly on the skin or find a suitable ornament on the Internet, resize it to the size of the bracelet in a graphic editor and print it on a printer.

Step 7

You can transfer the pattern from paper to a blank for a bracelet using carbon paper. To do this, put the paper on the skin with the coloring layer down, place the printed pattern on top of it and circle the lines on the image with a ballpoint pen, hard pencil or a thin knitting needle. If the backing is cut from very dark leather and the carbon paper does not leave noticeable marks on it, transfer the pattern by pricking it through the paper with a thick needle.

Step 8

Using a sharp knife with a thin blade, cut through the lines of the pattern a third of the thickness of the skin. Punch a few holes along the edges of the workpiece for lacing with a punch.

Step 9

Place the bracelet on a glass or metal jar with a flat surface. The diameter of the can should be slightly larger than the diameter of the bracelet when laced up. Pass a wire or an unpainted cotton cord through the holes of the workpiece and tighten the bracelet onto the jar.

Step 10

Dip the workpiece in boiling water for two to three minutes. As soon as the edges of the cut pattern begin to diverge, the bracelet can be removed.

Step 11

After the leather has cooled, sand all corners and cuts of the bracelet with fine-grained sandpaper. You can tint the item with a marker of a suitable color and rub it with colorless shoe polish.
