Step 1
Make a hole for the button. It should be slightly less than the diameter of the base of the button base. Gently run them along the edges of the hole so that they melt. The button consists of two parts - front and inner.
Step 2
Insert the bottom of the button into the hole on your clothing. Place the button on a metal surface. For example, a small anvil. Place the top on top. Check if both parts are inserted evenly. Place the rubber pad on top. It is needed so that the button does not deform during installation. You can also use fabric folded several times. Then rivet the button with a few blows of the hammer. The blows need to be evenly distributed over the entire surface of the button.
Step 3
Purchase special riveting pliers. They resemble ordinary forceps in appearance. Only instead of teeth they have mounts for different sizes of buttons. To rivet a button with them, you need to make a hole on the clothes. then select and install the required mount. Insert both parts of the button into it. Thread the pliers so that the hole in the garment is aligned with the base of the hardware. Squeeze the handles of the pliers until they stop. This method requires some skill. So practice on the unnecessary pieces of fabric first.

Purchase a special set to fit shirt buttons. It is a kind of stapler with a set of different buttons. For riveting, you need to put the desired button into the stapler and squeeze it with force until it clicks. The advantage of this method is that it is not necessary to make a hole in the canvas. But this method is suitable for attaching buttons only to clothing made of non-thick fabric.
