Buttons have been used in clothing for a long time. They have not lost their popularity even now, especially if you want to make the fastener unobtrusive. You can buy them at any dry goods store, in small plastic bags or on a piece of cardboard. Decorative buttons are often used, coated with metal, plastic or fabric. Attaching the top of such a button usually requires a special fixture, while simple ones need to be sewn on.
It is necessary
- - buttons;
- - product;
- - a needle;
- - threads to match the fabric;
- - piece of chalk.
Instructions
Step 1
Find the right buttons. They come in a variety of sizes. For a coat or jacket made of thick fabric, large ones are suitable. For an airy blouse or summer dress, choose the smallest ones. Separate the top from the bottom.
Step 2
Mark where you will sew the top of the button. You need to start with it so that the fabric does not puff up in place. As a rule, even on thin items, the fastener is made in two layers. Secure the thread with a knot or a few small stitches approximately where the center will be. Sew the button over the edge, making a few stitches in each hole before moving on to the next. During the transition, the thread can be passed under the button.
Step 3
Chalk the overhang of the top half. Try on the outfit and press the button in the position in which the fastener of the finished product should be. Sew on the bottom half of the button over the chalk mark.
Step 4
The upper halves of some decorative buttons are attached using a special mechanism, in which case it is better to contact the nearest clothing repair shop. The bottom half is either inserted in the same way or sewn in the usual way. The plastic buttons can be attached by yourself. Punch or cut a hole in the desired location. For the top half. Insert it and melt the edges with a lighter, soldering iron or burner. Mark the place for the lower half in the same way as for the sewn-on button. Make a hole at the mark, insert the button and also melt the edges.
