They literally shook the musical Olympus of Russia with their songs and sincerity of performance. The phenomenon of the modern music world. Representatives of Russia at Eurovision 2012. And these are all of them - "Buranovskie grandmothers".
The team was formed about forty years ago in the village of Buranovo, Malopurginsky district of Udmurtia. Since then, his story begins. Gradually, the members of the group began to move from songs in the Udmurt language to re-singing of the modern stage. In 2010 they took third place in the Eurovision selection contest in Russia. From that time on, they began to actively talk about them and invite them to performances. The team visited not only all corners of Russia, but also in Europe.
Their performances are distinguished by their sincerity and sincerity. This is facilitated not only by national costumes (which were made by the participants themselves), but also by the repertoire. In addition to Udmurt folk songs, "Grandmothers" translated songs by Viktor Tsoi, Boris Grebenshchikov, The Beatles and other performers into their own language. They chose songs to their taste, giving preference to melodic compositions.
In 2012, "Buranovskie grandmothers", having gained the majority of votes in the qualifying round of Eurovision in Russia, will represent our country in Baku at the European music competition. The song Party for Everybody is a joint creation of the band itself, as well as the British poet Mary Susan Applegate. The music was written by Viktor Drobysh and Timofei Leontiev.
In the meantime, in their free time from rehearsals, pensioners are engaged in housekeeping, raising grandchildren and collecting money for the construction of a church. Almost all the money earned from the performances is spent on it, since, judging by the statements of the members of the collective, "they don't need much."
Someone calls them freaks (what the "Grandmothers" are offended at), someone - trash-pop, or simply - populists. But this does not in any way affect the fact that the members of the collective love their work, sing from a pure heart. In any case, they have already received general attention from Europe and will only consolidate their success at the competition.
