Despite the claims of many people that they do not dream, this is not the case. Everybody sees dreams. It's just that everyone has different abilities to remember them. Someone remembers everything in vivid and colorful details, someone only vague passages, and some are convinced that dreams do not visit them, simply because they cannot remember them at all.

Sleep and its phases

Absolutely everyone can recall their dreams.

Some people have an innate ability to remember their dreams in great detail. Those who do not have this ability should not be upset. This can be learned if there is a desire.

There are two main phases of sleep in humans:

REM sleep or rapid eye movement (REM). In this phase, the activity of the brain is increased, the rhythms of the heart and breathing are speeded up, the eyes move quickly, sometimes twitching of the limbs is possible. While in this phase of sleep, a person sees vivid dreams that are easy to remember.

The phase of slow sleep. Depending on the depth of sleep, brain activity decreases, heart and breathing rhythms become less frequent. The eyes become motionless. Dreams seen in this phase are usually not remembered, except in rare cases. But dreams also occur in this phase.

Sleep begins with a phase of slow wave sleep, which lasts 80-90 minutes, followed by a phase of REM sleep, lasting 5-10 minutes. Gradually, the duration of slow wave sleep decreases, and REM sleep increases. By the fifth or sixth time, REM sleep can last for about an hour.

Techniques for memorizing dreams

A person remembers better dreams seen in the REM sleep phase. Also, the dream that was dreamed directly at the moment of awakening is more often remembered. To better remember the dream, you can roughly calculate the time and wake up at the moment when the brain is in the REM sleep phase.

One of the important points in remembering dreams is setting. You need to go to bed with the thought that, upon waking up, you need to remember the dream.

You can also get yourself something like a talisman. Set yourself up for the fact that when you see this object, you need to remember a dream. You need to hang it over the bed so that it is the first thing that catches your eye when you wake up.

To better remember the dream, you need to get enough sleep. This is important, although in everyday life it turns out quite rarely.

It is advisable to sleep without artificial lighting. You can draw the curtains.

After waking up, do not make sudden movements. When you wake up, just open your eyes. Try not to think about the day ahead, but immediately start remembering the dream. At such moments, he can be remembered to the smallest detail.

To quickly learn to memorize dreams in detail, you can write them down without forgetting about any little things. You need to write down everything, even if it is separate passages or vague vague pictures. To do this, you need to have a special notebook and store it next to the bed.

If you constantly practice remembering your dreams, after a while, it will be easier to do. As in any practice, the main thing is constant training, and the result will not be long in coming.
