When creating a drawing of a person with a simple pencil, a beginner should know several basic steps. Later, having filled your hand in the practice of drawing from life or from memory, you will remember all these stages, and begin to draw without hesitation.

It is necessary

A sheet of paper, a simple pencil, an eraser

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare a piece of paper, a pencil and an eraser. Position the sheet of paper so that the person's figure enters it and looks good. Think of the pose in which you will draw the person (if from memory). Start sketching with light strokes.

Step 2

Using thin lines, lightly pressing on the pencil, sketch out the direction of the torso, arms and legs. Then outline the main parts of the shape in the form of ovals or rectangles. Mark the head with a circle. The arms and legs will consist of at least two parts; also designate the feet and hands with geometric shapes - this is the third detail in the limbs. If the drawing does not suit you, do not rush to erase it with an eraser. It is better to fix it right away, and carefully remove the wrong lines.

Step 3

Next, start adding details and drawing the shape. Draw a middle vertical line on the head, mark horizontal lines for the eyes, nose and mouth on it. Refine the shape of the head, sketch out the hairstyle. Smooth out all the corners with smooth lines, as if "splicing" the parts together. Add muscle if necessary. Outline the clothes.

Step 4

Draw a face, give it some expression. Draw the hands. Use the eraser to erase the invisible and construction lines. Refine body features and clothing details. Come up with and draw, if you wish, an appropriate background - an apartment, a street, etc. Apply light shading if you are not going to work in color. Apply shading according to the shape of the body and clothing, do not forget about the shadow. Emphasize the foreground.

Step 5

When drawing from life with a simple pencil of a person, pay attention to its characteristic features. Measure with a pencil the proportions - how many times any part of the body is deposited throughout the whole body. For example, usually a person's head is deposited seven times. If you have not achieved portrait accuracy in the drawing, it's okay. This may be due to errors in drawing and your vision of nature. It is believed that the artist brings some of his features to the portrait. The more often you practice drawing a human figure, the more accurate your work will be.
