The situation is aggravated when a very young mayor suddenly dies. A new war breaks out, this time for the vacant seat of the ruler of the city.
The story is fictional, as is the place it describes. The narrative, saturated with black humor, is about what passions are raging in the hearts of the most ordinary townspeople. Betrayal, duplicity, hatred engulf the city in the struggle for power, while outwardly Pagford gives the impression of a blissful and beautiful place.
The publishers promise readers an unexpected ending that will "leave a lot of food for thought." The audience, already intrigued to the limit, is now even more eagerly awaiting the release of the "adult" novel by J. K. Rowling.
