Instructions
Step 1
A variety of fruits and vegetables are used for carving, but you can try carving a cucumber first. Cucumber produces beautiful plant motifs - flowers and leaves.
Step 2
To make a flower from a cucumber, cut a small piece 7-8 cm long from it. Before reaching the bottom edge of the segment, make an incision and fold it back to form a leaf. Cut the remaining leaves in a circle, making small distances between them. Then take a carving knife and cut a 2 mm thick cut in a circle to start carving the petals of the future flower. Form a row of petals with an oval knife.
Step 3
Form the next row in the same way, but place the petals in a checkerboard pattern in relation to the previous row. For each subsequent level of petals, cut the area with a knife by 1-2 mm. Cut the core of the cucumber between the petals and put the core cut from a piece of carrot there.
Step 4
Trim the tips of the leaves with kitchen scissors, giving them a pointed shape. To make the cucumber flower open, place it in ice water for a short time.
Step 5
You can also make a separate decorative leaf from a cucumber by cutting out an elongated flat slice with an S-shaped bend from a cucumber. On the outside of the slice, use a carving knife to make two thin, parallel cutouts, and on either side of these cutouts, make transverse short cutouts along the length of the cucumber. Decorate the edge of the sheet with decorative teeth, cutting them out with a knife.
