There is a "classic" hand tools for stone carving. It may differ for each bricklayer, but some of the obligatory tools from this set have remained unchanged since ancient times.
Sledgehammer
This is a heavy tool weighing up to 4-6 kg and a handle length of about one meter. The tool has a massive hammer, and due to the possibility of a large swing, it is possible to increase the impact force.
Pick
The pick is still used in mines and quarries today. This impact tool has a blunt end on one side of the tip and a sharp element of one or two teeth on the other side. A pickaxe has great destructive power, therefore it is considered one of the main tools of a bricklayer.
Jackhammer
This tool differs from a conventional hammer with a heavy weight of up to 3 kg, which allows more powerful blows to the stone. It is used as an auxiliary tool for cutting stones. The tip of such a hammer is blunt on one side and sharp on the other.
Bushhammer
The hammer has one blunt firing pin and differs from the sledgehammer in more compact dimensions. It is designed for cutting small stones and small parts of a large product.
Chisel
This is a small mason's inventory for more decorative work and precise fit of elements. To give the stone a more pronounced faceted shape, different types of chisels are used. They are blunt, sharp and wide.
Mallet
This tool is designed for laying stones in the ground or sand. It is equipped with a special striker made of elastic material: rubber, leather, wood.
Wedges
The wedges are designed to split a large block of stone into separate pieces of the desired shape. These metal sleeves are inserted into a specially made hole in the stone, and the master strikes each one with a hammer or sledgehammer in turn.
Grater
A sponge or brush is an additional name for this tool, which is used to complete work. The grater grinds or polishes the stone, and the degree of its impact depends on the grain of the tool.
Boaster
This decorative fine pencil-shaped tool is used for engraving on stone. Scarpels have different tips with a prong thickness of 2-2.5 mm.
Scriber
Another stone painting tool. The scribe has a special victory tip for tougher work. With its help, they mark the stone and draw straight deep lines.
Cutters
Cutters are used by a craftsman to work with gemstones and give them the desired shape. With their help, the bricklayer gradually removes the necessary unnecessary elements from the working piece of stone. There are hand and power cutters as well as grinding and polishing tools.
Files
Hand files are used for soft stone types, helping to cope with the formation of small parts of the product. They are straight and curved.
There are also additional secondary tools: pens, knitting needles, cords, hairpins and other devices designed for certain jobs.
