Knitting is an old women's hobby that is still very popular among needlewomen. Using knitting needles and yarn, you can knit a variety of garments, accessories, and even interior decorations. However, before starting to knit, each knitter must learn how to hold the knitting needles correctly so that knitting is comfortable and does not cause discomfort to the craftswoman. There are several ways to hold the knitting needles in your hands - you can choose the most convenient one for yourself, which allows you to control the thread tension and create an even and neat fabric.
Instructions
Step 1
Get into a comfortable position and bend your elbows without straining them. Place the ball of thread to the left of you and below the knitting itself. Hold the working thread in your left hand so that it wraps around your index finger.
Step 2
For the French method of holding the knitting needles, keep your right hand parallel to the working needle in a stationary position. Don't move your hand itself - only move your fingers to save energy and make knitting faster. In this method, the ball of yarn should be on your right.
Step 3
Wrap the working thread around the little finger of your right hand, then pull it over the fingers of your right hand, reaching the tip of your index finger. Using your index finger, slide the thread over the tip of the right knitting needle held by your ring and middle fingers.
Step 4
Gradually move the knitting needle forward with the little finger and thumb of your right hand. At the same time, the left hand practically does not move - with the fingers of the left hand, remove the knitted loops from the knitting needle.
Step 5
Another, familiar to many, way to hold the knitting needles is to hold the right knitting needle with your fingers, in the same way as you hold a pen or pencil. Knitting in this method goes between the thumb and forefinger.
Step 6
At the same time, hold the left knitting needle by the upper tip, and hold the working thread in your right or left hand. Depending on which hand you hold the working thread, you can divide knitting methods into English and European.
Step 7
If you knit in the English style, throw a working thread on the needle, and control the tip of the needle with your thumb and forefinger. In European knitting, hook the working thread through the loop and use your thumb and middle finger to adjust the tip of the knitting needle.
