In order not just to capture the wedding on video in separate unrelated pieces, but to create a whole film, you need to approach the filming as responsibly as possible. It doesn't matter if you are filming it yourself for friends or want to immortalize your wedding.
Wedding video for yourself
If you decide not just to shoot your wedding on video, but to create a whole film, then there are two ways to go. The first and the simplest one is to hire a professional who, together with you, will compose a script, sign it, shoot the celebration and edit the resulting video files into a film. This is an excellent method, especially if you want professional cinema, but a professional videographer is not cheap today. The second way is to film the wedding on your own, asking friends and acquaintances to use the video cameras they have. Decide for yourself whether you will shoot a movie according to the script, giving the guests instructions on what and where to shoot, and what is at their discretion, or on the basis of the videos received, you will put together a so-called video collage.
Self-shooting is also good in that you get a lot of videos of the same moments, shot from different angles.
Understand editing programs - basic knowledge is enough to "glue" a good film. The simplest programs are Sony Vegas Pro and Nero Vision Express, their basic functions can be learned in just a couple of hours.
Another piece of advice for newlyweds is to smile more often and try to forget that you are being filmed. Then your film will turn out natural and light.
Wedding video for others
If your friends asked you to shoot a wedding or you want to make a living by video filming, then at least for the first shooting you need to carefully prepare.
First, carefully and thoroughly study the technique with which you will be working. Try it in different weather conditions, test it in different lighting conditions. Explore all the functions that are inherent in your camera. It is best to purchase a tripod so that the video does not "twitch".
Second, discuss the script for the film with the newlyweds. Invite them to compose it themselves, do not take on extra work. However, if the bride and groom are not in the mood to fantasize, it is best to always have at hand a template for a standard script, which includes a ransom, wedding ceremony, exchange of rings, a list of witnesses, the first marriage kiss, congratulations from relatives and a walk for the newlyweds.
Thirdly, select in advance and discuss with the newlyweds background music that you will use in the editing process.
Fourth, study the editing programs and practice working in them.
Once you have gone through all the preparation steps, you can start shooting - now nothing will stop you from creating a semi-professional wedding film.
