Crochet is a very interesting kind of needlework. With it, you can create a wide variety of things - from little things for the kitchen to blankets, curtains and clothes. One of the most multifunctional motifs in this kind of knitting is the so-called "grandmother's square". How to tie it?
It is necessary
- - threads of at least two colors;
- - hook.
Instructions
Step 1
Find the right knitting materials. The specificity of the grandmother's square is that it is knitted from threads of different colors. Choose two, three or four shades of yarn that go together in an interesting way. Moreover, it must be of the same thickness and texture. For example, you can choose frequently used Iris threads for crocheting. Also, if necessary, buy a crochet hook that is the right size for the yarn. A sales assistant at a craft store will help you with this.
Step 2
Start knitting the motif. Make five to six air loops and connect them together in a ring.
Step 3
Form a square. To do this, tie the resulting ring with double crochets. Start with three stitches, then complete with three stitches, then make two more stitches. The motive must be repeated four times. Then connect the last chain stitch to the outermost column of the loops. You should have a square.
Step 4
Change the thread. To do this, secure the old one with an inconspicuous knot, cut it so that the end is not visible, then tie a new one. It is better to fix it in the corner. Continue knitting. On a chain of spirit stitches in the first row, tie a group of three double crochets and two chain stitches. The posts should be tied so that the threads of the new color completely cover the air loops of the first row. Then repeat the motif on the double crochets of the previous row. Tie the whole square with it. There should already be three groups of columns on each side.
Step 5
Knit the third row in the same way as the previous ones. You can change the color of the yarn or keep it the same. Tie at least four rows, or more. After that, your square will be ready. Gently knot the thread, cut it. Thread the resulting motif with water and gently iron it through the fabric. You can make a variety of things from such squares: a blanket, a blanket, a kitchen tablecloth. Clothes created from such motives also look interesting. They are fastened either by knitting or by seams.
