Sewing soft toys is an exciting activity for children and their parents. Now in stores there is a large selection of patterns for toys, but this is the work of a designer - not yours, there will be no individuality in it! There is also a charm in factory-made soft toys and in cute primitive things of our own making. If in a drawing in a magazine or in a children's book you liked the pictured toy, try to sew it yourself or with the children.
It is necessary
Scraps of a wide variety of fabrics, ribbons and lace, multi-colored threads, scissors, needles, padding polyester, buttons and beads for eyes and noses, cardboard and pencil, a sewing machine (you can also sew on your hands if the toy is small)
Instructions
Step 1
Choose the picture of the toy that you like. Do not take a too complicated one - it will be difficult to make a pattern for it; children's drawings are also suitable for beginner needlewomen. The child will be glad to see his drawing as a model for a toy, however, there will be a danger of sewing soft toys according to these drawings every day!
Step 2
Make a life-size pattern of the toy, that is, just draw it. The arms and legs can be made one-piece if they are the same color as the body, or you can cut them separately if you are thinking of making them from a different fabric. Pin the pattern to the folded fabric and cut with sharp scissors.
Step 3
The muzzle of this bunny must be done separately, and then sewn to one of the parts. To do this, cut an oval out of fabric without a pattern and embroider eyes, nose, mouth and antennae on it with thick colored threads. The eyes and nose can be made from buttons or beads. Sew the muzzle on a typewriter or on your hands with a decorative stitch with contrasting threads.
Step 4
Sew the parts of the toy's handles and legs, turn them out and fill with filler, leaving the open edge slightly unfilled. Attach these pieces to the front of the torso piece so that they point inward. Pin them with pins and then baste them with thread.
Step 5
Cover the first part of the torso with the second, matching the front sides. Baste the parts together, leave a hole for the filler and turning the toy inside out. Sew a seam and overcast if fabric frayed heavily.
Step 6
Carefully twist the toy through the hole, straightening out the small parts of the ears. Stuff the bunny with padding polyester, starting from the ears. Make sure that the packing is even, without voids or lumps. Sew up the filling hole discreetly.
Step 7
If you have sewn a soft toy from a bright printed fabric, then it does not need many decorations - a bow on the neck and a decor on the tummy, you don't need more. If you made a toy from a plain fabric, then it can be decorated with both embroidery and applique. If your piece is rather large, you can wear the clothes of your little one that he grew up from. Equip the toy with a handbag or a hat, put on beads and other accessories - together with the children, figure out how to decorate the resulting fun!
