If you are a dancer or just travel often, the question arises: how to transport dresses? There is always a danger of staining and even tearing clothes. To avoid trouble, you can use a special dress cover. You can sew it yourself.
It is necessary
- - raincoat fabric - two lengths of the cover;
- - threads in the color of the fabric;
- - zipper - length about 1m;
- -carbines - 2 pcs.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the fabric for the cover. Considering all possible weather conditions, raincoat fabric or other fabric that does not allow water to pass through is best suited for the cover.
Step 2
The cover pattern can be skipped on paper. You can draw it directly on the fabric. Pre-pin the two pieces of fabric with pins to avoid slipping. The upper part of the cover should be at least half a meter wide and freely fit in the clothes hanger. The lower part is about a meter. If you plan to carry a ball gown in a case, focus on its width along the bottom. Perhaps it will be one and a half meters. The length of the cover should be slightly longer than the length of the dress.
Step 3
Cut out two pieces of the cover. Baste the bottom and one of the side seams, then sew with the sewing machine. Sew a zipper into the second side seam. Its length can be different. But the longer it is, the looser the dress will fit inside. If you don't like the idea of a zipper in the side seam, make the front sash a split. Then you can insert the zipper in the middle of the front cover sheet.
Step 4
Leave a hole in the top seam for the hanger. You can do it differently. Sew the top seam completely with a small loop. A hanger with a dress will be hung on it.
Step 5
For convenience, you can sew on the outside of the strap for carrying the cover. Cut it open from one side seam to the other. Its width should be about 5cm when finished. The ends of the strap must be sewn into the side seams. A loop is also needed for hanging the cover.
Step 6
Also, inside the cover, you can place carabiners on the sides, on which you can hang dresses by the belt loops. This is very true for strapless dresses.
Step 7
Another great idea is to sew two pockets on the back of the cover. Then you can transport shoes without any problems. To do this, cut out two parts - rectangles with sides 20x30cm. Fold one of the narrow sides and topstitch. Place the details on the back fabric of the cover, sew.
