Even in ancient times in Japan, paper hats were made from thin rice paper. They made various cocked hats, samurai helmets, ornaments for brides' heads. Some hats were an integral part of the traditional Japanese boys' festival. To this day, paper hats are sometimes necessary for us. A folded newspaper hat will help on a hot day or protect us from splashing paint when doing renovations.
How to make a hat (option 1)
1. Take a regular A4 sheet and fold it in half along the short side.
2. Fold the sheet in half on the short side again.
3. Bend the corner, which consists of two sheets, to the central part of the workpiece.
4. Bend the top corner of the resulting triangle up.
5. Fold the corner into the pocket of your future hat.
6. Fold the top two layers diagonally on both sides.
7. Spread the inside of the hat with your hands and shake well.
How to make a hat (option 2)
1. Take a double sheet of newsprint and fold it in half horizontally.
2. Fold the sheet over the longest part and fold it back.
3. Fold the top two corners towards the middle of the workpiece. Fold the bottom two corners of the top layer towards the middle of the blank.
4. Fold the top layer of the lower part of the workpiece up.
5. Bend the bottom corners back of the resulting shape.
6. Fold the lower trapezoid of the workpiece back.
7. Spread out the inside of the hat.
8. Lift the front and back corners up.
How to make a cocked hat
1. Fold a square sheet of paper diagonally.
2. Bend the right corner of the triangle down one third.
3. Bend the left corner of the triangle over the right corner and iron the workpiece.
4. Fold all corners up except the bottom.
5. Bend the bottom corner back.
