Winter bouquets allow us to remember the summer and feel its aroma even in cold inclement weather. Materials for winter bouquets are pine and spruce branches, dry twigs of an intricate shape. But most often they are based on flowering plants dried in summer. To make such a bouquet and decorate your home with it in winter, take care of this in advance.
Instructions
Step 1
Flowers, leaves and twigs can be dried immediately in large quantities. Newsprint is good at absorbing moisture. Lay on a flat surface a thick newspaper, sheets 10-12, lay a sheet of white paper on top of it to isolate the ink. Place plants with the same thickness of leaves and flowers on it so that the entire layer dries evenly and the leaves do not deform. Cover the plants with white paper and newspaper again. If there are several layers, repeat the installation, laying each layer with white paper. Place a sheet of plywood on top of the newspaper and place something heavy on top of it.
Step 2
In order to dry any flower so that it retains not only its color, but also its shape, it must initially be fresh, without signs of wilting, no moisture should remain between its petals. Cut the stem short and insert a thin wire into the bud or flower, insert the wire into the stem and dry it separately, hanging it in a dry, dark and well-ventilated room.
Step 3
To dry a rose, use loose substances with a fine structure - semolina, dry and clean river sand, calcined in the oven. Pour it into a box in a layer of 2-3 cm, stick the rosebuds into the sand and, gradually pouring in the filler, separating the petals from each other, immerse them in it. The thickness of the layer between the petals can be made different by adjusting the shape of the flower from the bud to the fully opened rose.
Step 4
For bell-shaped flowers, use cotton wool. Place it inside the calyx so that it is completely filled with cotton wool. Use tweezers to lay down cotton swabs to avoid breaking the stamens and pistil. Hang the flower on its own stem or wire upside down and dry in a dark, dry and ventilated area.
Step 5
To preserve the dandelions, harvest them at the end of flowering, when the white head begins to appear. Remove the stems and insert wires into the heads, hang them up and wait for the dandelion to open into a fluffy hat. Don't miss this moment! Sprinkle the inflorescences with hairspray and they will stand in bouquets all winter, still airy and beautiful.
