Instructions

Step 1

When planning to sew something, decide on the product and its style. When you have done this, you can choose the fabric. If you are just starting to sew, try to give preference to natural fabrics - flax, cotton, coarse calico, fleece, chintz. These fabrics are non-slip, which means they will not shift when sewing, making your job easier. If you need to sew a product from an expensive and hard to sew fabric (satin, silk or organza), first try to sew it from a cheap fabric, try on and evaluate all the shortcomings of the pattern, then correct it, and only then start cutting and sewing from good fabric.

Modern stores offer a large selection of textiles - for every taste and budget. Do not limit your imagination, experiment and combine different types of fabric, try, for example, stitching a bag from thin faux leather or a jacket from faux fur. These materials usually have a woven non-slip lining and are fairly easy to handle.

Step 2

The choice of a sewing machine is also very important when sewing. The modern home appliance market offers fairly compact models that combine the functions of both the sewing machine itself and the overlock for processing seams. There are also programmable sewing machines that allow you to process buttonholes, sew locks, and even embroider. Do not be afraid of the variety of functions, such machines are easy to operate if you strictly follow the accompanying instructions.

The choice of accessories for sewing is very rich: a variety of zippers, buttons, multi-colored buttons, sometimes reminiscent of precious stones - the eyes will run wildly. Choose accessories to match the color of the fabric, make sure that everything is harmonious.

Step 3

One of the most important stages of sewing is designing a pattern. Many patterns can be found on the Internet, printed on large sheets. Next, adjust exactly according to your measurements and start cutting. When cutting, pin off parts of the fabric with safety pins so that the symmetrical parts of the product do not slip and are neat. Be aware of seam and fastening allowances. It is enough to leave one centimeter on the seams, and from one and a half to three centimeters on the fastener. Do not forget to iron both the cut parts and the seams all the time. This will give the product a cleaner look and make it easier to sweep and sew parts on a typewriter, especially when processing the edges of the product.

After you have sewn everything, sewed in the necessary accessories and processed the seams, iron it again, note that all seams must be ironed on one side.
