One of the brightest symbols of the Nativity of Christ is the Star of Bethlehem - an unusual heavenly sign that showed the wandering Magi the way to the manger where Mary gave birth to the Infant Jesus. The Gospel does not describe the external details of this phenomenon, but a certain image of this wonderful star has been fixed in the church tradition. On frescoes and icons, it is painted eight-pointed. There are other options, such as the fourteen-pointed star in the Temple of the Nativity of Christ in Bethlehem. But do not confuse it with the six-pointed Star of David.
It is necessary
- - paper;
- - drawing supplies;
- - gouache and golden paint or marker.
Instructions
Step 1
To draw the Star of Bethlehem, first draw an octagram - an eight-pointed star-shaped polygon. Draw a square on the paper, and then draw an equal second square rotated 45 degrees around the same center. The eight vertices of the intersecting squares will be the ends of the Star of Bethlehem (Fig. 1).
Step 2
Now connect these vertices in series through two with one continuous self-intersecting line. Remove the outlines of the intersecting squares and the extra inner lines of the resulting eight-pointed star, leaving only its contour lines.
Step 3
To make the star more interesting and shining, lengthen some of its rays a little (for example, through one). You can make the edges of the rays not rectilinear, but curly, jagged.
Step 4
Paint over the outline of the Star of Bethlehem with warm yellow paint. Add volume to the rays of the star: from its center, draw straight lines to each of the eight vertices and to the points of connection of the rays, dividing them into halves using a thin brush with a yellow paint of a darker yellow-orange hue. Paint over one of the resulting halves of each ray with the same paint.
Step 5
Since the Bethlehem star mentioned in the Gospel moved, showing the way to the Magi, many are inclined to consider it a comet. Therefore, this star is often depicted with a long arched tail. Draw on the side of the star a train expanding towards the end, like a comet. The end of the tail can be drawn with a zigzag or wavy line, or you can smoothly reduce it to nothing when painting a picture.
Step 6
Paint over the trail of the Star of Bethlehem with yellow paint, and with yellow-orange paint a few strokes along it, showing the movement of the extraordinary celestial body. Closer to the base of the star, you can make the texture from small densely strewn dots, and towards the end of the tail - from more sparse ones.
Step 7
In conclusion, outline the contours of the star with gold paint or a marker, and also apply small strokes and dots over its entire surface. Do the same with the trail of the Star of Bethlehem.
