Many types of work are impossible without this faithful assistant. The spring-loaded tape measure was invented in the middle of the 19th century, but only became popular in the 40s of the 20th century. Today, not a single master can do without it.
Instructions
Step 1
Making a tape measure begins with a 3D computer drawing of the case and its components. In a production environment, run an automatic machine that pulls hardened strips of steel through a system of rollers that apply a paint base to them.
Step 2
Apply millimeters with black paint, meters with red paint. Now heat the measuring tape. Thanks to this, the protective layer of plastic applied by the device will adhere to it.
Step 3
Then use the rollers to shape the belt into a concave shape so that it is stiff when pulled in.
Step 4
Pause the press: the blade will cut the tape to the desired length. At the same moment, a hole for the end hook will be punched. Rivet the hook on the tape.
Step 5
Use a machine to twist the steel to make springs. The spring will pull the tape into the housing. The end of the spring is secured in an automatic winding device.
Step 6
Place the bottom of the tape measure body in the desired location. The machine will tighten the steel spring to be installed in the housing.
Step 7
A little grease on the spring, then place stoppers that will hold the tape while measuring. The rest of the assembly takes place in one click. Fasten everything.
Step 8
Attach the measuring tape to the spring. The roulette is ready.
Step 9
Spring test time. To do this, pull out the measuring tape completely and release.
Next, check the holding capacity of the stopper in different parts of the measuring tape.
