Traditionally, socks are knitted in a circle on five knitting needles (also called hosiery), but many find this method difficult. Of course, knitting with two knitting needles is much easier, especially since there are special knitting needles for circular knitting.
It is necessary
- - 100 g of yarn;
- - circular knitting needles.
Instructions
Step 1
Circular knitting needles are the top ends of a regular straight knitting needle, but they are connected with a thin line. The loops are knitted at the ends of the knitting needles, as in normal knitting, and then lowered onto the fishing line. For knitting socks, choose knitting needles with a shorter line, since if it is long, the knitted fabric will stretch and it will be very difficult to knit.
Step 2
Cast on the circular knitting needles the required number of stitches in the same way as you cast on the straight stitches. Do not tighten or stretch the hinges.
Step 3
At the beginning of the row, hang a special marker on the knitting needle so that you know where the beginning of the circular row is (instead of a marker, you can also use a piece of thread in a contrasting color, which is tied to the first loop of the row).
Step 4
Knit with a 2x2 or 1x1 elastic band, gradually lowering the loops onto the line. When you get to the end of the row, transfer the marker from the left knitting needle to the right and continue knitting in a circle to the required length of the elastic (move the marker in each row).
Step 5
Knit the heel on two needles on half the loops in the same way as when knitting on stocking needles, in forward and reverse order to the required length. Usually the number of rows for knitting the heel is equal to ½ of the total number of loops.
Step 6
To form the heel, divide the stitches into 3 sections and knit, knitting the last stitch of the middle section and the first to the third section together (knitting in forward and backward order), until only the middle section remains on the knitting needle. If the number of loops is divisible by 3 with the remainder, add these loops to the middle part.
Step 7
Cast on the edges of the heel and knit with the front stitch in a circle to the little finger. Now you can decrease the loops to form the toe. Divide the loops into two sections (top and bottom). Knit one stitch with the front one, remove one loop, knit the next one with the front one and pull the removed one through it. At the end of this half of the stitches, knit 2 together and knit one. Repeat the same for the second half of the loops. Knit in this manner until 6 stitches remain on the needles. Pull these loops, cut the thread and hide it inside the sock.
