There are several ways to tune your guitar. Each guitarist chooses the one that suits him the most. There are even those who have perfect pitch - they just need to pull each string to understand where it needs to be tuned and how much. It should be noted right away that the method of tuning a six-string guitar to a classical tuning will be considered.

A musical instrument that you are sure of the correct tuning

Instructions

Step 1

First, you need to find something that can serve you as a tuning fork. For these purposes, both the tuning fork itself and any musical instrument, in the correctness of which you are sure, are suitable. For example, a piano. Consider the case when you have a piano or a second guitar that is already tuned.

Step 2

Pull the first string of the tuned guitar or press the E keys on the piano. At the same time, pluck the first string of your untuned guitar. Listen carefully and see if the notes sound the same. Identical sounds are heard together as a single, even vibration without beating.

Step 3

If you hear that the two sounds are different, start making them one at a time and determine if the string is high or low on your un-tuned guitar. If higher, begin to smoothly weaken it until the sounds are the same. If lower, then gently pull the string.

Step 4

Once your first string is in tune, you can then tune the rest of the strings to match it without using any third-party instruments. Hold the second string at the 5th fret and play the sound from the first and second strings at the same time. And this time you again need to get the same sound. But do not tune the first string, it is now accepted by you as a standard. Loosen or tighten the second, depending on whether it sounds higher or lower compared to the first (when clamped on the 5th fret).

Step 5

After you have done this, hold down the third string at the fourth fret and do the same operation as described above, but with the second and third strings.

Step 6

Hold the 4th string at the 5th fret and get a solid tone in the same way with the 3rd string open.

Step 7

Similarly, tune the fifth string relative to the fourth (the fifth string heals at the fifth fret), and then the sixth string relative to the fifth (the sixth string is also clamped at the fifth fret).

Step 8

If necessary, repeat all steps 4 to 7 to refine the setting.
