Step 1
To use the tuner, you need to connect a guitar to it using a special cable and, rotating the tuning pegs, tune all the strings in turn. To do this, you need to pull the string and look at the tuner scoreboard. The middle of the scoreboard displays the desired tone. If the bar that represents the sound of your string tilts to the left, then the string needs to be pulled up, and if to the right, then loosened.
Step 2
It is necessary to rotate the peg as smoothly as possible. This will increase the accuracy of the tuning. During tuning, the tuner shows the letter designation of the note to which the sound of the vibrating string is close. This allows you to tune the guitar in any tuning you want without any extra effort, without having perfect pitch. Although, even with good hearing, it is better to check the tuning with a tuner.
Step 3
In addition to adjusting the tension of the strings, the tuner allows you to fine-tune the scale, which is impossible for most people to do by ear. To tune the scale, it is necessary that the harmonic at the 12th fret and the string clamped at the same fret sound in unison. The flask is obtained if, without pressing, you touch the string with your finger exactly above the 12th fret and, pulling the string, lift your finger from the string. You will get a high-pitched sound. The exact same sound should be obtained with the string held down. If the sound is lower (the bar on the tuner is shifted to the left), you need to shorten the string by adjusting the saddle with the screw. If the sound is higher, the string must, on the contrary, be lengthened.
Step 4
If the string cannot be tuned according to the tuner, it constantly creeps, which means that either the string itself or the instrument is faulty. It is almost impossible to detect such a problem by ear. The strings must be tuned to the tuner each time before playing.
Step 5
The scale must be adjusted after each string change, which, in turn, should preferably be done every six months. For ease of tuning, the tuning pegs should move smoothly. If the peg is too tight, it must be replaced. Tuner problems are displayed on the tuner as abrupt jumps in the pitch of the string when the tuning peg is turned.
