How did it all start?
The captain of the starship of the United Federation of Planets NX-326 "USS Franklin", Balthazar M. Edison, is a titled Major of the United Earth Special Forces MAKO. In turn, he is a veteran of the war with the Xindi and Romulans. He receives the post after the formation of the Federation by Jonathan Archer. Edison was offended by the fact that he was dismissed in defiance of the "true task." He wanted to be a soldier, to protect people. But officials humiliate themselves in front of their enemies, calling it diplomacy.
Soon the spaceship "Franklin" falls into the Gagarin radiation belt. As a result, he finds himself outside the Federation - the planet Altemis. Starfleet couldn't help them because the radars simply couldn't see them. Franklin's management felt they were just dumped. Jessica Wolfe and Anderson Lee are the officers who remained on the crew. After a while, Balthazar Edison finds a way to save the lives of himself and his team: with the help of the technologies of the civilization that lived on the planet, he “siphons out” the local life. But something went wrong, and Edison, along with the officers, mutate into terrible creatures who begin to rule the planet the way the Ancients did. Balthazar becomes Kroll and sends out a "swarm of bees" of drones throughout the galaxy to find and collect ancient nano-weapons in order to take revenge on the Federation that abandoned them.
First act
The film consists of 4 acts.
Three years have passed since the start of the Five Year Mission. USS Enterprise visits the Yorktown Federation and their Starbase. Jim Kirk, the future birthday boy, refuses to celebrate his birthday due to the tragedy. He decides to get the rank of vice admiral and become commandant of the base, and decides to completely give command to Spock. But Spock had other concerns: he broke up with Nyota Uhura because he believed he should marry a Vulcan. This will be more correct. It is important that the "Old" Spock from the alternative reality has died, and his current incarnation decides to continue his work and become a diplomatic official.
The "mutated" Jessica Wolfe, Kalara, arrives at the base and reports that their ship is still in Altemis. Kirk decides to help her and flies through the nebula, as the Enterprise has the best navigation equipment and can afford it. They are attacked by the "Roy", consisting of small fighters, and takes them on board. Kroll wanted an alien artifact from the Enterprise. But the team does not give up just like that, many die. Allies of Kroll and Manas (formerly Anderson Lee) are "absorbed".
McCoy and Spock are captured by one of the Swarms, but they quickly manage to hijack it. Montgomery Scott escapes, a photon torpedo helps him in this. Kalara and Chekhov escape capture in escape pods. Kirk survives in Calvin's Capsule.
Second action
The Enterprise dies: the team is held captive by Kroll. Kirk tries to find out where the Swarm is, but Kalara doesn't tell him. Kirk and Chekhov get to the ship, but Jim leaves Chekhov and leaves with Kalara, telling her where he hid the artifact, even though it later turns out to be a lie. Kalara is given a phaser, and she confesses that she just wanted to save her team. They are attacked by drones, Kirk blows up the fuel tank: Kalara and the drones are killed.
Montgomery Scott is alive and in a photon torpedo on the edge of a cliff. He manages to get to the forest, where Jaila rescues him from the natives, because he recognizes Scotty's badge: he is from Starfleet.
Jayla brings Scotty to her hideout, which turns out to be the abandoned ship USS Franklin. Scotty realizes that he is able to fix the ship and will be able to find friends. McCoy and Spock, escaped by the starfighter, fall into the canyon, and Spock is badly wounded. The team decides to go to the cave, where Spock reveals the secret that he wants to leave Starfleet.
The Enterprise is captured by Uhura and Hikaru Sulu. But the crew gets out of the cell, in this they are helped by Scotty's acid runny nose. Meanwhile, Kroll is downloading data from the Enterprise's computer to invade Yorktown. The officers are caught by drones, and Kroll is devoured by a special device, the "black cloud of nano-robots," Ensign Sil.
Third action
Chekhov and Kirk are trapped by Jayla, but they manage to get out and save McCoy and Spock with a reconfigured transporter. The team decides to storm the base. Jim breaks into the ship on an old motorcycle, Jayla fired at the drones, Spock and McCoy free the prisoners. As a result, Manas falls to his death after falling from the roof. Kroll and Roy attack Yorktown, the team decides to stop him on the USS Franklin. Kirk realizes that it is possible to jam the drones using one frequency: they can simply be made to fire at each other. And to the song "Sabotage" he does it. Kroll remains alive.
Fourth act
The group learns who Kroll was in the past. They find him already a man (Edison), as the villain consumes human lives. Kirk and Balthazar Edison begin to fight and activate the deadly artifact. But Edison flies into outer space along with a deadly cloud.
