The voice of Polad Bulbul-oglu is light, like a mountain wind. Perhaps, there was no singer on the Soviet stage like this Azerbaijani tenor. No wonder he was given the nickname "Bulbul" in his homeland, which means "nightingale".
Childhood
The famous Soviet and Russian singer Polad Bulbul-oglu (the real name of the singer is Polad Mammadov) was born in 1945 in Baku. His father, a famous musician, called his son sternly - Polad, which means "steel" in Azerbaijani. But the grateful audience eventually gave the singer a new name "Bulbul", which means "nightingale", and the latter was assigned to the artist for life.
As already mentioned, the singer's father was a well-known and popularly beloved musician in Azerbaijan, the founder of a vocal school. Polad's mother worked at the museum. And Bulbul grew up, not needing anything, in an elite house in the center of Baku.
Until now, his neighbors remember the tricks of the young musician who loved to bawl songs all over the neighborhood. Together with his friend, Muslim Magomayev, who was later destined to become a world famous singer. Friendship with Magomayev lasted all his life, later Polad began to devote his songs to him.
Education and career
While studying at a music school, the future singer mastered the guitar and piano. The young man did not even think about a vocal career. He occasionally performed with his father, accompanying him.
But after entering the Conservatory after school, Polad became interested in Azerbaijani folklore. And he got so carried away that he began to compose songs in this genre and naturally perform them. Then Polad formed a gentle, but energetic, truly "nightingale" lyric tenor, which later charmed the entire Soviet Union.
However, Bulbul's composing talent also deserves great attention, since he did a lot for Azerbaijani folk music, and not only for her. As a very young boy, Polad was admitted to the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan.
The songs of Polad Boyulbul-oglu were performed by many famous Soviet and Russian singers, such as Iosif Kobzon, Lyudmila Senchina and even Nikolai Baskov. In addition, Bulbul himself still gives concerts and is in excellent physical and vocal form. It is a great pleasure to look at him, he literally charges with his irrepressible energy.
Personal life
A charming Azerbaijani and a favorite of women, he was married twice. His first wife was the famous opera singer Bela Rudenko. Her name at that time thundered throughout the Soviet Union, and her face did not leave the covers of magazines. And Polad decided to conquer the impregnable peak. The fact that the lady of the heart is twelve years older than Bulbul did not bother the young man. He courted beautifully, as befits a Caucasian man. And soon Bela gave up and married a persistent gentleman. The couple had an heir, Teymur, but everyday problems destroyed a beautiful union.
The second time Polad married Gulnara Sheikhaliyeva, who gave him two more children. All the children of Bulbul are musicians, famous in their own country and abroad.
