New Years in kindergartens and schools require parents to make costumes for their children. The boy will love the Captain America costume. But a suit cannot be separate from an important attribute - a shield that completes the hero's image.
Captain America is a famous hero of a science fiction film created by the Marvel campaign. The hero's special weapon is a shield. Thousands of little boys dream of him, imagining themselves as a superhero.
You can make Captain America's shield with your own hands. Of course, it will not be as durable, but in boyish fantasies, the shield will fight everyone on the spot and protect against any weapon. The main thing is to believe in it.
Required material
- Old newspaper
- Large balloon (inflated diameter 1 m)
- PVA glue
- White paper (for printer)
- Putty (white)
- Sandpaper (fine grain)
- Paint and brushes
- Varnish
Progress
Inflate the balloon to the desired size and lightly sprinkle it with talcum powder (baby powder) or regular baking flour. Mark the borders of the shield with a marker. PVA glue (you will need a lot, so it is better to purchase glue in a hardware store in a large container) pour into a bowl. Tear the newspaper into small pieces and, dipping them in glue, stick to the ball. It is necessary to glue the newspaper on the place marked with a marker.
After 5 layers have been glued to the ball, leave it to dry overnight. The next day, you need to glue another five layers of newspaper and leave to dry again overnight. After the newspaper is dry, you need to glue 3 layers of white paper (also tearing it into pieces) and leave the ball to dry for a day until the paper is completely dry (if the paper is not dry, leave it for another day).
A completely dry thick layer of paper (shield base) can be easily removed from the ball, which is no longer needed.
Glue the base of the shield from the inside with one layer of white paper and leave to dry for a couple of hours.
Dilute the putty according to the instructions on the package. It is important that it is white. Apply a primer to the shield, first on one side, and after drying on the other. It must be applied evenly.
If the irregularities are not completely leveled in one layer, apply another one after drying.
After the primer has completely dried, sand the shield with emery paper and wipe it off well from the formed dust. Cover with a primer.
The shield is ready for painting. You can paint it with any paints (from a spray can, enamel or ordinary gouache). To make the circles even, you need to make a paper stencil and carefully glue it to the shield so that you can easily remove it later. Paint in parts: first in one color, then, after complete drying, in another.
The inside of the shield also needs to be painted.
After waiting for the paint to dry completely, cover the shield with varnish. It will protect the product from water and dirt. After the varnish has dried, a handle must be attached to the shield. It can be made from an old belt (in this case it will be flexible) and glued to the shield with Liquid Nails glue. You can bend a handle out of a metal plate and wrap it in a cloth.
The universe will now be protected. After all, there is a new Captain America.
