The design of curtains is very important for interior decoration - any textile complements the interior, and it should organically fit into it, making the room more comfortable and harmonious. There are many different models of curtains and drapes, and today the popular model is Roman shades with neat folds. These folds are easy to make.
It is necessary
- - dense fabric;
- - metal / wood rods;
- - plastic rings;
- - metal bar;
- - long cord;
- - cornice.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a thick fabric of a suitable color and texture, as well as thin metal or wood twigs, the number of which is equal to the number of planned folds. The length of the twigs should be slightly less than the width of the curtain. You will also need small plastic rings with a diameter of 10-12 mm. Prepare a weighting metal strip, a strong long cord, and a special curtain rod for a roman shade.
Step 2
To determine the length of the fabric, measure the expected length of the curtain and the width of the window. Consider 2 cm for allowances and hem on each side, and then cut out the curtain by cutting two lengths plus one curtain width.
Step 3
Place the fabric face down on a flat surface and smooth it. Use tailor's pins and hand basting to form the creases. Adjust the size of each fold according to the length of the curtain.
Step 4
Sew all the edges of the curtain, and sew Velcro to the upper edge if the curtain is attached to the eaves from a wooden bar. For an ordinary curtain rod, make a double seam and insert a metal rod and attach the curtain to the curtain rod with clothespins.
Step 5
Fold in the bottom edge of the shade and hem with two rows of stitches so that a metal bar can be placed between the two rows for weight. Sew the folds on the wrong side and insert twigs into the folds.
Step 6
Sew the trim tape over the twigs. Then sew plastic rings to the places of the filing of the twigs. Secure the curtain to the eaves and thread three cords into it, threading them along the top rings, and then threading them through one ring. Pull all three cords through the rings, and at the end, wind them into one common ring.
Step 7
Lower the shade and line up the cords. Cut off the excess ends and tie the cords in a knot.
