It is necessary

cornice, fabric, threads to match the fabric, gathering tape, good scissors, a large table and a good sewing machine, pins, tailor's chalk

Instructions

Step 1

Open the curtains. The part will be equal to the finished curtain width plus the assembly factor. In turn, the assembly factor depends on your desire: if you want your curtain to have fewer assemblies or folds, then the optimal factor is 1, 5. That is, if the width of the finished curtain is 3 m, then the width of the part will be 3, 00 x 1, 5 = 4, 5 m. If you like it when there are a lot of folds on the curtain, feel free to choose a larger coefficient - from 2 to 3 m. You should not do more.

Step 2

We decided on the size. Now we start processing. The main principle of curtain processing is that when working with such a large amount of material, distortions and stretching of the fabric are possible during processing. Therefore, all curtains and almost all of their elements are first processed from three sides. That is, you need to sew the side seams and top or bottom. Now on sale there are many fabrics with a weighting agent, therefore, for such curtains, you do not need to process the bottom, hem only the side sections.

Step 3

Side cuts are processed with a hem seam with a closed cut, the seam width is 1 centimeter. Such a seam will look neater than a wider one.

Step 4

After you have hemmed the side cuts, proceed to the next step - ironing the product. For this you need a large table. Fold the fabric in half with the side seams to the edge of the table, then secure the seams by pinning them to the table. Moisten the fabric a little and begin ironing the finished edges carefully. When you have finished ironing, do not rush to remove the pins. Let the fabric cool and finally take the desired shape. Then iron the entire curtain.

Step 5

Then it is necessary to equip the curtain, i.e. in other words, cut off excess fabric in height. To do this, calculate the required length. The formula for calculating the height of the part is as follows: h = h1 + h row x 2 + pri.

- h is the height of the curtain;

- h1 is the finished curtain height;

- h row - this is the height of the comb, that is, the fabric protruding above the braid, which serves for decoration and in order to hide the hooks of the cornice;

- the seam allowance is an allowance for sewing on the braid, which is equal to the width of the braid you are using. For example, the height of the finished curtain should be 2 m 65 cm, the length of the comb should be 2 cm, and the seam allowance should be 1 cm. Therefore, h = 265 + 2, 0 x 2 + 1 = 270 cm.

Step 6

To make the basic arrangement, unfold the future curtain, folded in no more than four layers. Pin along the bottom of the weight. Lock it in this position. To do this, you can put a long ruler, pressing it down with a heavy object on top. Align the curtain along the table, straighten out any creases. As a result, you should get an absolutely flat surface. Then measure the required value from the weighting material with a measuring tape. According to calculations using the formula, this value is 270 cm. Measure this distance in 3-5 places on the curtain, depending on the width of the product. Then draw a line along which you will cut. Cut the fabric along a line, then fold back the fabric to the wrong side by the amount of the comb and seam allowance. Fold in the seam allowance and sew on the tape. Pull it down to the desired size. In our case, up to 3 m.

Step 7

From the remnants of the fabric, you need to cut out a rectangle measuring 10 * 15 cm. From this rectangle sew a pocket in which you can hide the cord from the braid. If the width of the curtain is more than 9 m, it will be necessary to sew 2 such pockets and sew them on both sides of the curtain. And pull the braid to the center. The curtain is ready and can be hung on the cornice.
