Curtains are one of the most important decorative elements. If you cannot find in stores what your imagination draws, you can try to do it yourself. It will be especially interesting to sew the curtains with a shell.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare a vertical surface, cover it with a cloth. This surface can be an ironing board, chipboard or foam board. To attach and assemble the shell, attach a horizontal bar covered with fabric to the surface. Mark the horizontal bar: mark every 4 cm with small lines.

Step 2

Prepare a shell pattern. Purchase a fabric suitable for the shell (consult your dealer or consult a specialist online). Fold the fabric 140 cm x 140 cm in the shape of a scarf (the longitudinal fold should be at an angle of 45o). Use pins to pin the pattern in the fabric, trace its contours with chalk or remnants and carefully cut it with tailor's scissors. If you haven't made a mistake, your pattern should be in the shape of a trapezoid.

Step 3

Draw a vertical line in the center of the board you have prepared, and mark it in small lines every 8 cm. Use 3 pins to pin the fabric pattern to the board, aligning the middle of the fabric with the line you drew. Attach the fabric with a 5 cm allowance. Place the outer pins 8 cm from the edge of the fabric.

Step 4

Just below the middle of the fabric, form and bring up a fold and secure it with a pin. Make the rest of the folds in the same way, keeping the same distance between them - 4 cm. Check that the resulting folds are the same width. Sew the fabric from the middle to the outside edge. Check the symmetry of the folds on both sides. If you are satisfied with the result, sew the resulting folds.

Step 5

Sew a bar to the shell. To do this, first process its edges, then attach mounting tape or braid to it. Fold the shell and plank with the right sides and grind, process the seam on the overlock. Close the seam seam with tape and sew.
