Manga is a popular worldwide style of Japanese drawing, most often used in comics, as well as in the famous Japanese animation genre. Manga-style drawing is easily recognizable, but often images from manga comics are black and white. And if you want to see your favorite character in color, use Adobe Photoshop and color in the image.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the black and white image in Photoshop, and then create a new layer in the open document by choosing the Create new layer option from the Layer menu. Give the layer any name, and then in the color picker set two colors - the main one at the top and the secondary one at the bottom. For example, set the colors in the palette to yellow and light yellow.
Step 2
From the Toolbox select the Brush Tool and find the Rough Round Bristle brush in the list that appears. Set the brush size to the desired size, for example, 100 pixels. Make sure you are on a new layer and not the original image, and then paint over the hair of the manga character with the main color.
Step 3
Paint over the character's body with a lighter shade of the same color. Paint the areas loosely, going slightly beyond the boundaries of the contours. Then in the layers palette click on the arrow next to the Blend Mode field and select the Multiply blending mode.
Step 4
After that, create another layer and fill it entirely with another color, for example, red. Use the Fill tool to fill. Open Blending Modes again and set the value to Soft Light.
Step 5
Create a third new layer and paint some of the manga elements with another brush color. Let it be the eyes of the character and some external accessories. Set the layer blending mode to Hue.
Step 6
After creating another layer, take a new color and color some additional details of the picture, and set the blending mode to Lighten.
Step 7
Duplicate the layer of the black and white original image (Duplicate layer) and drag it with the mouse to the topmost line of the layers palette. Change the blending mode to Luminosity. Modify some more details of the drawing if necessary. The colored manga is ready.
