Sea fishing is a very reckless and exciting activity. The easiest way to catch a bull is in the seas. For example, in the Black Sea, this fish is caught at any time of the year and bites on any bait of animal origin.

The Black Sea goby is a medium-sized fish that is perfectly caught with any bait and tackle. The average size of an adult Black Sea goby is 10-15 centimeters, and the weight is no more than 200 grams. The goby can be caught with a float rod or a donkey. Long casts are not required, so fishing will be successful both from the boat and from the shore or pier.

Tackle and bait for catching Black Sea gobies

You can use a regular spinning rod with a spinning reel as a sea donkey rod. The optimal line diameter for catching medium-sized sea fish is 0.4 millimeters. The donkey weight should have a weight of about 100 grams. For hooks, large hooks can be used for the bull, as the smaller ones will swallow too deeply.

The bait for catching gobies is any seafood: pieces of fresh fish, sea worms, crab or shrimp meat, mussels, rapana, snails, etc. You can also use meat products, for example, pieces of sausage, sausages, boiled meat.

The technique of catching bulls on the donk is very simple. The tackle is thrown to a depth of more than 50 centimeters, after which the bites begin almost immediately. Bulls always grab the bait sharply and usually do not get off the hook, so there is no need for complex hooks.

In the sea, not only a goby, but also any large fish can bite on the donk, therefore it is better to constantly monitor the bites and remove the tackle from the water in a timely manner. Active nibbling of gobies is usually observed in the morning before 12:00 and in the evening, when the time goes to sunset.

Sea goby lifestyle

The goby is a predatory fish, but it does not chase after prey and leads a sedentary lifestyle. Therefore, its fishing does not require the use of such tricks as posting and playing the bait. The goby feeds on benthic invertebrates, juvenile fish, eggs, larvae, molluscs and other food of animal origin.

This predator usually hides behind stones and patiently waits for prey to be near it. That is why the sea goby is called “sculpin”. It can also bury itself in silt and sand. In the morning and in the evening, the goby looks for food at the bottom. The goby does not stay on the sandbanks for a long time, so for successful fishing it is necessary to look for places with a rocky bottom and algae. Active biting is usually observed near piers and breakwaters, where gobies find shelter and make holes among the stone blocks. The promising places for fishing are crevices in breakwaters and pits between stone ridges.
